This is what 3 more points would have got us (6 places at ?756k a place)

Our last few games performance have cost us a decent transfer fee or someones big wages on

a free !!

i wonder if the players had bonus' resting on this?

i would hope so but it would seem not.

It would be costing us in terms of transfer fees rather than wages. I guess the club would only budget for wages using money it knows its going to get from one year to the next. Money of this nature is probably treated as one-off - so the cash would be far more suited to being spent on transfer fees.

Shame really. I reckon if you averaged out the kind of fee we pay (when we do actually pay a fee), it would come out at between ?2m and ?2.5m - so that ?4.5m is a couple of solid signings.

Anyone know how much the cup run brought in extra? Must have been something, TV rights alone.

But it could be counter argued that our fantastic performances, earlier in the season, have earned us ten times the sum of ?4.53M by getting us over the 40 point mark

My glass is half full :drinks:

It was the difficult run-in that eventually cost us.

The Birmingham , Sunderland, Blackburn and Blackpool games especially.

Could be considered that the opposition really wanted to win, and our players weren't bothered as they already knew they were safe and the season was pretty much over for them so they just turned up and went through the motions. It's shite, but seems to be what happened

So they can't be bothered to win ?4.5M. Hmmm...well I would think that's about equal to the income from adult season tickets. So if they don't give a toss about it, can I have mine for free please Phil?

Before the West Ham game I was worrying where our next points would come from.

The fixtures were lined up with potentially every opposition needing points, with us on a complacent 40.

So the fact that West Ham had so little to offer was good news.

The performance against Arsenal was a positive reaction to you know what, other times poor.

Btw, why should players fight for an extra ?4.53M in order to displace them from the team (potentially)?

They obviously could not be motivated for those last games.

As our Managers one and possibly only strength is man management and encouragement then I find this alarming.

As another poster said that lost income is equivalent to season ticket income for a whole season. Staggering.

Everyone works hard to afford a s/ticket yet the players couldn't be bothered in those last games.

If they could have mustered up 3 more points then we could have been on freebies for the season!!

Same outcome financially for the club.

Really makes you think.............

Bolton could have got Europe via the League or F.A Cup

Bolton could have got more money with a higher placing

Bolton could have ended the season giving out confidence for next season, a 5-0 defeat, one win to regain some optimism but then lose 5 straight in a row does not do this.

Bolton could have finished in a place that maybe makes us a little more attractive to potential transfer targets.

THEY JUST COULDN'T BE ARSED, I'd rather we had flipped the season around and finish playing inreal, 5 defeats and the memory of the Stoke game, along with players leaving, doesn't give great confidence out.

The squad wasn't strong enough it's as simple as that. The injuries to Holden, M Davies and Ricketts showed up the weaknesses in the squad. I don't accept that the players 'couldn't be arsed' once we'd reached safety.

Even without Holden and M.Davies, it's no excuse for the 5-0 loss and 5 straight defeats. That's just pathetic and a total contrast to the beginning of the season, we we're weakened and loss of form is expected but not on that ridiculous scale.

I went to all those games you mention and not one of them looked much better.

Birmingham we played well for 10 minutes and scored and had 2 cleared off the line.

Blackburn we had 1 shot that hit the post and still only lost 1-0

Sunderland we played well for the last ten

Blackpool at 3-3 there was only 1 winner until they scored, but terrible defending / goalkeeping cost us the game

Certainly 4 games for me that we should have got 6 points plus from.

tell me you don't actually believe this shite

having 8 bodies in their penalty area when all we had to do was be patient was what cost us that game

coyles tactics...flawed

Agreed - we did go gung ho and got caught with 4 attackers on 3 defenders. But defense for the other goals were shocking.

Never the less, to score 3 at a relegated team and not win is poor.

Away from home the tactics have been "questionnable"

Funny some people used to say that, and now it?s just shit play :pardon: , as I?ve said in the past I will take a shit 1 nil win to an exciting 4-3 defeat anytime, anywhere

Oh aye. a 0-0 would have meant 4 places higher up the table and another ?3.024 Mill in the kitty. Much better to have lost 4-3 !!!!

That is the exact reason why I think that some of them have not bothered which is utterly disgusting in my eyes.

I have been saying that for a number of weeks.
