mickbrown
Asked for Duchars - didn't have any, got Copper Dragon. Ten minutes later - went back for more Copper Dragon and they'd ran out of that too. Am I numb or does ale go off in the barrel within a week? Burndens Bogs
The landlady at the Brewery Tap told us yesterday, that real ale stuff goes off after 3 or 4 days in the barrel.
Traf
The landlady at the Brewery Tap told us yesterday, that real ale stuff goes off after 3 or 4 days in the barrel. Once it has been tapped, it really does need to be used fairly quickly. Any real ale outlet that has problems with beer going off is ordering the wrong size of barrel. H
I used to play darts in a small village pub. The landlady would only tap a barrel of real ale ready for Thursdays if the darts team were at home or Fridays if not. When it ran out it ran out. There was no point in tapping another barrel because midweek sales didn't justify it and the beer just went off.

Not much chance of the beer going off in that Brewery Tap pub (formerly Carters Arms Belmont Rd) what a decent little busy boozer it is.....nice to see these days. But as said, the right size barrel needs to be ordered. Which is why real ale needs real skill to keep it.
