United Nations

Pick your best eleven from the premiership years but you can only have one player per country - not easy - hopefully not done before

Can't believe there's no room for Youri!

I recall that in the 2004 PL Asia Cup, with 7 subs allowed, Bolton fielded 16 nationalities in one match - and Stelios was not there after being in Euro 2004.

And there was a league match against Bburn in September 2005 in which players from 18 nations started the game and 2 further nationalities were used as subs.

Both teams had English (Nolan, Davies, Hunt as a sub; Jansen, Bentley), Welsh (Speed; Savage)and Finnish (Jaaskelainen; Kuqi as a sub) players. Bolton also had Pedersen (Denmark), N'Gotty (France), Ben Haim (Israel), Campo (Spain), Stelios (Greece), Okocha (Nigeria), Diouf (Senegal), plus subs Gardner (Jamaica) and Borgetti (Mexico). The visitors had their Pedersen (Norway), Friedel (United States), Neill and Emerton (Australia), Nelsen (New Zealand), Matteo (Scotland), Khizanishvili (Georgia), Reid (Ireland) and Mokoena (South Africa).

This is a record for the Premier Leaguue which may stand for a very long time, since the squads neatly complemented each other in composition.

... can't believe I've not got Anelka in there, but I just couldn't omit Djorkaeff. The man was a genius. Maybe it's also because times were so much better under him and the fact that, unlike Anelka, he always looked like he wanted to to be here.

only thing wrong with that, is that a couple of other very decent teams would have jardel in their serious team.

Are we really going there?

Where?

You made no comment re the French XI.

I'm currently trying to think of a ginger XI too but am struggling badly.

Are we really going there?

It was worth it for the Phil Brown joke alone.
