peebles Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 how the fuck can you owe the tax man ?75 million They used EBT's (employee benefit trusts) paying players for image rights & allsorts into an offshore trust, which attracts a fraction of the top rate tax in the UK. Other Clubs have used this but not to the extent of Rangers. Arsenal settled out of court to the tune of around ?15m a few years ago. If it was a faily small proportion of a players take home money, then it could be argued for I guess but Rangers ripped the arse out of it. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Her Majesty's finest asked that they be placed in admin meaning no protection from creditors. Quote

peebles Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 It seems Craig White is a secured creditor whereas HMRC isn't, according to the Beeb. If that's the case, he can fold the Club if HMRC won't play ball. He can then take control of all the assets, in leiu of the ?18m he is owed from Rangers. He would then set up again under a new Company name & HMRC would have to wait in line for next to nowt. Even I have to say that isn't right if true. Quote
Traf Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Craig Whyte is a shithouse and in the interests of fairness/impartiality, so is Dermot Desmond. Quote
Pablo Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I heard everton had jelevic for peanuts cause they still owed them 1.5 million for Micheal ball 10 yrs ago. True. They only paid about ?5 Million of the ?6.5 million fee. Word is we got Jelavic for as little as ?3 Million down. Quote
Traf Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 The rest to be paid to Craig Whyte via his cat's offshore bank account. Quote

Site Supporter Spider Posted February 14, 2012 Site Supporter Posted February 14, 2012 Can Celtic not have a whip round? They need Rangers more than Rangers do, if you see what I mean. Quote
stevieb Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Guy ont SSN just started crying on camera when asked about them going into admin... Think he started on the buckfast too early today! Quote
ROSSENDALEWHITE Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Craig whyte new all along what his intensions were, they bought Lee Wallace for ?2m from hearts in the summer, if you owe the tax man that much money you don't go buying new players! And I wonder how much they still owe hearts? This could affect a lot of teams in Scotland who are owed money from rangers. How can this happen to club taking over a ?1m in gate receipts every other week? Craig whyte said there would be ?5m a season available for transfers when he took over, what a wanker! Quote
Ghana White Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Genuine question.. will rangers be forced to sell their best players by the administrator? If not then why not? Quote
little whitt Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Genuine question.. will rangers be forced to sell their best players by the administrator? If not then why not? y who you got youe eye on Quote
birch-chorley Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Genuine question.. will rangers be forced to sell their best players by the administrator? If not then why not? My understanding is taht the administrator has to run the club in the intrests of the creditors and as such would be looking to sell off the assests. Quote
jagermoot Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 If they went bust and they ceased to exist, what'd happen to their players? Quote
stevieb Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 If they went bust and they ceased to exist, what'd happen to their players? Theyd go back to working ont tills or move south of the border and join stockport county. Quote

Salford Trotter Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 It's sad to witness the demise of Rangers but the Murray and White knew exactly the risk they were taking. This may prove the final death knell for scottish football.Despite my allegiances to the Bhoys I really do feel sorry for the Rangers' fans as I know that could easily be us in 12 months Quote
anewman Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 are tey allowed to carry on playing or is that it, shut up shop? Quote
