and then someone launching a few turnips at him before legging it under the stand and reappearing further up the paddock.

Watching the reserves (circa mid 1950's ) and then going to the office and waiting for some old guy coming out around 4.55 to tell us the first team had lost - nowt different there then.

Buying The Buff after the first team games from a printing van opposite Orlando Bridge and finishing up with more ink on your hands than on the paper.

Watching from the embankment - not just pre Normid - this was when the embankment held virtually as many as the Reebok does now with the top half made up of steps made of flagstones stood on end about 18 inches high (450mm in new money including VAT)

Somebody on the thread wrote about the dugout with plastic seats - Jeez these were the days of a concrete bunker with a plank bench seat.

Sally Army band at half time, goalkeepers had no number on, 10 minute half times - when did that change ????

Donkey jackets crombies, Doc Martens and skinheads you dont get any of those anymore, bricking coaches as they entered St Peters way and being bricked away from home, waiting on the car park behind the embankment and mixing in with the away fans to give them a bit of grief. The sway on the paddock or lever end at the big games. Reserve games being played at Burnden on a Saturday afternoon when the first team were away, anyone remember the Aston Villa away game being postponed in about 79 and when we got back went to watch the reserves on Burnden ,sure it was against Man United.

We were half way down motorway and heard it was off. Turned around and, after a quick peek through the papers, decided that Oldham would be the place for our footy fix.

Didn't Collina ref the Brescia game?

I was looking at the program for this match the other day. I'll check it tonight and let you know who it says the ref was.
