When I first came to Perth, they had a downpour in the middle of February (hottest month) and blokes walked out of the pub and stood in the gutters letting torrents of rainwater gush round their feet and calves - still supping. Smiling and loving every raindrop. I was convinced they were all mental. This morning, I was plug chopping one of the Vespas and looked down the street. Same thing. You can then gauge just how hot the day was by nipping into Asda later that evening and checking the severity of the sunburn on the shoppers' shoulders.
