If the weathers like this next week, you may get a spot outside your local without too much hassle.

here you go

One thing Iv'e liked about this weather has been taking my mam around the lovely gardens at the hospice for a nice walk and seeing and hearing all the songbirds in full chirp.

Perhaps you should have tried harder at school and be able to live somewhere else?

I'm already imagining a load of sad fuckers, huddled around a pint of bitter, in the wind and 5C temperatures, talking about how great it is to have the pubs back open.......before they quickly finish their pints and then fuck off home, not to be seen again until the pubs open properly so that you can sit inside.

What I don't get actually, is I've seen a few pubs in the villages around here putting up big marquees......surely that still classes as inside doesn't it, if it's got a roof and sides? - It might be a big tent, but no way can it be classed as "outside" surely - either way, it looks to me like that's what a few places are going to be doing

Didnt pubs initially start that when the smoking bans came in and they got told get to fuck?

Is it like the smoking shelters? So long as there’s an open side it’s classed as outside?

Edit: Rudy beat me to it

Booked up solid in Lancaster on Monday.

I can't believe how desperate people seem to be to sit outside a pub

Maybe it's more to do with the social side of things and not drinking?

you can do that now in your garden or in a park, you don't have to wait until next week

Some people just might prefer a pub? Doesn't matter where really. 12 months is a long time to fuck up your mental health. People want to get back to normal.

I sort of understand that (not that I think it's anything like back to normal), I just think it would be a bit better if they skipped the "outside" bit and just stayed shut for another month, until they could open inside as well  -  I heard something like 2/3 of pubs aren't bothering to open next week, as for many (especially those without much of an outside space) they'd lose money - especially if the weather is like it is at the minute, I'm not sure that you'll have people queueing up to sit in 4C windy cold weather.

Sorry I didn't mean normal. Its just a bit closer to normality I should have said. Its shit. I've had a year of it in my life 24/7 even more so with work. I just want some sort of life back. Being pregnant I can't have the jabs, but yet I'm expected to nurse patients who potentially have covid in close proximity with minimal ppe.

I'm scared to death that I could contract it or worse still the baby gets it. Basically I want it all to just fuck off now so I can live in peace not worrying about my children and go to the pub if I want to for a pint or 2 to socialise with people I probably don't like that much haha.

Is it still classed as the Loopline beyond Clegg's Lane?

It's probably got a stupid cycleway designation number.

I thought the Loopline proper started at Clegg's Lane toward Blackleach and beyond...

The ride to Bury from the Embankment is a good 'un.

Highland Toffee cows along the way, ice cream and maybe a swift one in The Robert Peel...

Can't wait.

Cycled from Farnworth to Monton today on the loop line. On the return, did the branch line to Ellenbrook. Another new path from there to Tynesbank and back on the main line at St. George’s. Cycleway no. 55

Good innit, I often ride to Manchester and back and The Loopline lops off a big chunk of unpleasant riding, Blackleach is a nice place for a quick stop and rest/beverage if it's fine. I'll have a gander at those offshoots. 👍

Chaos up here tonight. Snowing heavily most of the evening, must be at least 6 inches deep now. Cars struggling on the hill, trees coming down and it's mid-April FFS

  • 2 weeks later...

Finished work early today for no other reason other than I can.
Prepared the food last night for our planned BBQ. Chicken Souvlaki.

Just me and my wife of 37 years. An hour in the garden discussing some important issues, then food and wine.

Not disagreeing with anyone tonight.

Life is good without politics.

Especially if the suns shining.

Anyway.

Jacob.

Happy St. George’s Day one and all. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

What an absolute whopper he is.

If ever was the phrase, 'an over educated idiot' was more apt, I am yet to see it.

Popped up to the chippy earlier to get some pips to have with our tea. On the way back, someone was cooking curry, someone else having a bbq.

Neighbours chatting on door steps and smiles abound.

Was a great little walk, very pleasant.

Christ, chip on shoulder post of the year.

Not really. JRM is an absolute cunt of a man and I hate that word. He loves Churchill and Maggie yet they both would have given the snivelling haunted pencil the cold shoulder he deserves.
