If you're a tramper with a load, you need to get there, Friend of mines just had his load refused at Birkenhead docks, no way he will sit in a cab waiting this out, he's also not legally allowed to. No choice but to drive back My load is almost always refused at Birkenhead docks as well, unless the missus is exceptionally drunk and accommodating Quote

Dimron Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Not had much here, yet. Previous years I'd been disappointed as i make a few bob putting tiles back on folks' roofs but this year I can't be bothered... sign of getting old... no doubt some useless young house owner will come knocking on my door before the winter's out asking me to fix his roof... one even tried to pay be using his phone last year, told him to go down the cash till and get some proper money. I only wanted twenty quid Quote

I had two roofing companies try to fix a leaky velux as I thought it was above my pay grade... it still leaked so me and my mucker got up there on a Friday afternoon and found a bent soaker to the flue just above... straightened it out and double taped the tyvek to be doubly sure... hasn't leaked since. It's not rocket science. There is a roofer in the village and he sends the little repairs round to me, cheeky sod... I know I'll end up with my triple extender out before winters over but I really don't feel arsed anymore Quote

I saw Jim Dale- major weather/climate dude- talking about the potential for air-borne debris. He made the point that some weighty object- bin lid or similar- launched at 80 or 90 mph may well knock you over and prevent you from ever getting up again. It's been less dodgy around here, but I was driving up Affetside when I heard about the van driver on the radio. Certainly gave the road-side trees a second glance. Quote

Site Supporter Popular Post Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 21, 2024 Site Supporter Popular Post Posted December 21, 2024 This week has brought a slight touch of the black dog. Dark days, usual pre Christmas hassle, worrying about my lad and the in-laws. However, it's still good to get out, and the strong breeze blows away the cobwebs. Van full of branches to unload, then fuck it; done for the festivities. Hopefully a hike before the big day, and one or two others during the holidays. Here's a good winter piccy or two Quote
