paulhanley Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Was sent this link to a page on Wikipedia by a Burnley supporting mate who had looked up "East Lancashire" derby on Google but tripped over this at the same time. So Bolton v Wigan is supposedly called "The South Lancashire Derby" and Bolton and Wigan fans consider the other to be one of their main rivals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Lancashire_derby News to me. LiOC Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Bolton is east lancashire anyway isn't it? It'll have been written by a pie eater. Always amazes me how much they dislike us when, to be honest, I don't care about them very much. Quote

LiOC Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) Bolton, East Lancashire? In my defence, I've lived in Preston since I was about 8. I always thought it was? Edited May 5, 2012 by LiOC Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Did some spotty 15 year old write that how can you have a rivalry with a club that has only 3000 fans? Quote
Andydee Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Bolton, East Lancashire? In my defence, I've lived in Preston since I was about 8. I always thought it was? I blame the education system! Quote
frankietheman Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Long ago when I was a kid and in the scouts at Blackburn RD Cong I remember having a badge on my uniform with a fleur di lys superimposed on a red rose stating Bolton 32nd SE Lancs. So there you have it. Quote
no balls Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) If you google "Baden Powell", you don't even have to go past the first page to find a page entitled "Famous British Paedophiles". The internet is not a good thing all the time. Edited May 5, 2012 by no balls Quote
frankietheman Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 No doubt about either - BP and his little african servant boys and the geographic location of Bowton! Quote
Gonk Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 SELNEC buses operated in the area. South East Lancashire North East Cheshire Quote
leigh white Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Lancashire was a massive county to administrate with the scousers, mancs and us cotten mill dwellers. So it got split up with the mickeys having Merseyside,, Greater Manchester having the urban sprawl, and Lancashire and Cheshire taking up the bits what was left over.. Quote

Gonk Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Are you Malcolm's son? Hell no. For some reason that bit oif information has been lurking in my head for about 40 years, and I've finally managed to put it to some use. Quote
leigh white Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 What i find confusing is the East Lancs Rd in my neck of the woods, when clearly it runs from SW Lancs in Liverpool to SE Lancs in Salford. Quote
MickyD Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Bolton is in E lancs deffo. The only thing Bolton is in East Lancs is in Freemasonry. The Province of Lancashire is split into East and West. East covers pretty much Pennines to Winter Hill, West Winter Hill to Sea. No, I'm not a mason but my old man was and I read a lot. Quote
LiOC Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Do you not have maps in Preston then Bolton is east of Preston... Quote
no balls Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Bolton is east of Preston... When you say East do you mean South with a little bit of East? Quote
Traf Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 When you say East do you mean South with a little bit of East? As far South as it is East and vice versa I think. (to within a mile or two) Quote
