DazBob
He didn't look particularly arsed on Saturday, and as previously mentioned he needs to lose some chunk before the season starts.
jules_darby
Yep thats how I see it with him. He is good on the ball but his positional sense is lacking and without pace he becomes a big risk in a 2 centre mid pairing Now that seems reasonable and I happen to agree But this notion that he doesn't try is ridiculous
Farrelli
Mark Davies is easily good enough for the championship if his manager can utilise him correctly, and the player himself decides he can be arsed. So we really really think that M Davies hasn't produced consistently because "he can't be arsed" Really? No but you really really (really) ought to put the quote in context. I answered Mounts post (see above) about whether Mark Davies ability to do well in the championship, which he certainly has with the right attitude. At no point did I mention 'producing consistently', they were your words.
jules_darby
Bollocks You said the crucial point was if he could be arsed But you meant crucial for what just a few games then Aye alreet

And that is a subtly different point to the one you are trying to pin on me. Alreet?
jules_darby
Not sure what your point is You appear to be stressing that his problem could be his attitude this season. Do you also feel that was why he didn't perform last season? If not what do you think the reason was? And why do you think that wouldn't be the thing stopping him perform this season (as opposed to his attitude)? No. I said that in the forthcoming season the only thing stopping Mark Davies (injuries permitting) being a top player is if he has the right attitude. Farrelli
My points are: I am stressing that his attitude is the only thing preventing him from doing well this season, he has plenty of talent. This is not to say that it was a problem last season, I thought on the whole he did well. However, the comments from other posters who have seen our pre-season games suggest he is not fit and looks under par. I hope that this does not indicate that he is not going to treat the league with a lack of respect.
jules_darby
All fair points I don't necessarily agree because I think the formation and tactics will be a big part to play in his success (or not) and I attribute the same to last season's performance However, there are those that think it's his attitude that held him back last season
Farrelli
I agree that formation and tactics played a big part last season, the four man midfield did not really suit him. Hopefully he will be allowed to carry the ball forward and leave defensive duties for others.
