Site Supporter HomerJay Posted September 11, 2012 Author Site Supporter Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) my wife is a fully qualified nursery nurse. absolutely loves the job, very rewarding, a lot of hard work because its not all playing with the children believe it or not. theres a crazy amount paperwork and bureaucracy involved. she used to hate the amount of paperwork, but understood the reasons behind it. pension? you having a laugh arent you? its a minumum wage job. but she accepts that. she did it because she adores children. she never wanted a management type role, even at double money, because thats not what she loved about the job. i suggested we start our own nersery but thats not what she loved about the job either. she is one of the best around at that job, 3 nurserys and play centre are always offering her employment but so she doesnt do it anymore because she is bring up our kids (until they are both at school at least) and there are many, many like her but you dont see many nursery nurses standing on the streets moaning though? i wonder why...... Triple fact with cocks on top....my ex wife has had my eldest dowter (12) help her 'mark' homework. I don't think anyone has disputed the fact there are shoddy, lazy, corner-cutting teachers. It's not an automatically acquired trait of the profession though. I've said this before on here, if it's such a lark and piece of piss then switch careers - a professional certificate in education is a fast track route to teaching. You too could be on easy street within 18 months Quote
stevieb Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Its not that people want to teach though is it. Its that they are talking of striking again that is getting peoples backs up. Quote

You too could be on easy street within 18 months See, this is the stock answer rolled out by those who miss the point by a country fucking mile. I dont WANT to be a teacher. I just want them to realise that they have been, and still are, on a fucking cushy number in terms of salary, holidays, pensions, and job security. Hearing tales of woe that they then have to actually carry the bad bits of the job description doesnt really cut the ice with me. Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 some daft doris teacher just on BBC news complaining that a pay freeze means that she will have to choose between heating and eating! FFS luv if its that bad then jib it in and go and earn a better wage elsewhere Quote
no balls Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 some daft doris teacher just on BBC news complaining that a pay freeze means that she will have to choose between heating and eating! Did she really say that? I hope she doesn't teach economics. Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 BBC 10 O clock news speaking at the TUC rally aiming a question at Ed Balls She should have her pay cut for saying that just for being a stupid bitch Are we really paying this women £30k+ a year to teach are kids? she is clearly thick as fuck if she thinks folk will swallow that. I dont WANT to be a teacher. I just want them to realise that they have been, and still are, on a fucking cushy number in terms of salary, holidays, pensions, and job security... Holidays, pensions and job security - no argument. Salary, I would disagree - a trainee teacher isn't on much more than an established teaching assistant, whose job begins and ends the hours they work (from kids arriving to kids leaving). Job security is a double edged thing - many teachers would love nothing more than to cut the deadwood. It's like in other walks of life, the conscientious end up taking up the slack. Pensions? Hmmm... perhaps I'll move back into the game in later years There are other public sector workers on a real cushy number who get no flak 'cause they do manual work. I know a plasterer for the council who f*cking earns a salary a teacher could only dream of - and he uses council resources when doing his foreigners! some daft doris teacher just on BBC news complaining that a pay freeze means that she will have to choose between heating and eating! FFS luv if its that bad then jib it in and go and earn a better wage elsewhere Many do, me included - I don't buy the fact teachers are on the breadline, but many see the salary and think that's a bit of alright for a 7 hour day and 185 days a year. It's a gross oversimplification. Anyway I couldn't really give a toss anymore - until I possibly jump back in, when I'm nearing retirement/senility for the pension of course... Some people are better at managing money, or don't have kids or are tight as f*ck in certain aspects of their lives. I know people who shop at Aldi, never eat out, don't drink, don't smoke, drive a sh*tbox etc. yet they go away three times a year. It's all relative... Quote

birch-chorley Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 No pal I was making fun of the fact that she was moaning about how bad she has it, thus violin. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) I know, but it's true about the music teachers though (and one specifically)...I prefer the Reservoir Dogs 'violin' though - rub your finger and thumb together and it's the world's smallest violin playing for the impoverished teachers. My argument all along was folk saying how piss easy it is and how it's a 9 to 3, two days on one day off type of situation. Edited September 11, 2012 by Youri McAnespie Quote

Smiffs Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I don't think it's piss easy, I know it's not. But which bit of the job description did they miss when they applied that them gave them a platform to whinge about? It's almost like "I'm a teacher and fuck me, they expect me to mark the work and do some planning" No shit they do!! Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) Not if we're talking "breadline" it's not That's not a choice is it People have it bad in some places true, but I'll be bold and say the vast majority of people in the UK have no idea of real poverty. The teacher in question should keep her trap shut, why cherrypick such an obvious bell-endress? Completely counterproductive to their 'cause'. Edited September 11, 2012 by Youri McAnespie Quote
