DazBob Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I'm back on the patches today. Anyone else quitting? Quote
Whites man Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 A smug 11 years under my belt for this ex-smoker, good luck with it. Quote
Burndens Bogs Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I went down the leccy fag route rather than patches, i've managed 14 months without a fag- best move i ever made. Quote
tomski Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I want to give it a go, whether I do is a different matter. Quote

olispence Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I had my last fag at 3am on NYD and have been using an E-cig since. Got one from Tablites which is quite a good'n. Set up a savings account with a £7.50 a day DD from my current account so I can see how much I am saving! Quote

Good luck to you Quote
fatty Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) If you really want to quit you can do it. If it' s a half hearted going through the motions looking for sympathy every time you attempt to stop weak pissy effort under pressure from the mrs then don' t bother. Why bother going through all the shit being a ratty bastard to only disappoint yourself in 2 weeks time. I don't believe in all this fake shit like patches and so on either. Just man up and beat the bastard. You're now non smokers so having a ciggy isn' t an option. Be strong !!!!!!! Laugh at the cravings and pumping veins and tell them to fuck off. It will be the best thing you've ever done long term and well worth the shit now. Food will taste nicer, you won' t stink, you' 'll be able to breath better once you' 've coughed up that black shit and you won' t look like a sad cunt . You' 'll be fitter and as you get older will have energy to live life rather than be a sad wheezey fuck with yellow teeth and hair unable to doss about with your grandkids. Do it and beat the evil twat. Edited January 2, 2013 by fatty Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Spiders brother has started using them E-Fags, he reckons they're the best thing since sliced bread, not had one for ages. I've got 160 Duty Frees to get shut of first though, then ill be cold turkeying, I've done 6-7 months cig free in the past and that's the route I'm taking. Quote
fatty Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 by the way cwp, love that pic with the bouncing titties ! Quote

Do it and beat the evil year . But that's where you're wrong. It's a chemical addiction. If you can find something that helps then why not use it? Fair fucks to anyone who can do it just by cold turkey. I agree with everything else you've said though. You HAVE to really want to do it though. If you're not in the right frame of mind you'll never stop. Last time I stopped I went over a year. The problem is I thought I'd pissed it and could then easily just have the odd social smook with my mates. I now know I can never do that again. Once a smoker, always a smoker. It's a bit like a recovering alcoholic thinking they can have the occasional drink - it's not going to happen. Edited January 2, 2013 by DazBobParr Quote
fatty Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 If it helps then fair do's but you then need to quit the substitute . Lesser of 2 evils I guess but you' 're still putting shit in your body which is doing untold damage . Quote
fatty Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 And best of luck mate. Don't let it beat you. Quote
Carlos Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I might start smoooking, for a laugh. Knowing I can stop when I like Quote
Andydee Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Whatever works for you BUT you have to WANT TO GIVE UP first and foremost. I went cold turkey, son in law used e-cigs, though it did help working on a site that was extremely difficult to have a cig anyway. He got to the point where the smell of a cig was making him feel sick, that's when you know you've cracked it. Quote

Lesser of 2 evils I guess but you' 're still putting shit in your body which is doing untold damage . That's very true. ... but, for me, a big part is breaking the routine. The smook on my way into work, the one at lunch when I get my paper, the one walking across the car park in the evening. Once that habit/routine is broken then that's half the battle won. Yes, the nicotine I'm still absorbing is still meaning I've got some level of dependance, but as I'm not actively feeding the addiction (which is why I'm staying away from those e-cigs and anything else where you consciously feed the habit) then I know I'll be reet. Again, for me, the hardest part of all is not the actual stopping, is the staying stopped. With God's help though, I'll conquer this terrible affliction. Quote

no balls Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I mentioned trying the e-cigs to a friend. He said they tasted like plug ins and pulled his face. He's on patches now and utterly foul. He may as well smook if he's going to be like that. Quote
no balls Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Or post on here where they'll fit in. No way is he allowed on here! Quote

Yeh sure nicotine replacement methods still put chemics in your body - but none of the horrible cancer giving carconigens that go into cigarettes. My doctor told me - it doesn't matter how you give, just give up. Quote
