no balls Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I'll start with John Lewis and Selfridges. Ditto. And Waitrose because I'm a snob. And Aldi because they do asparagus at a good price & their chorizo is the bestest for the price & because I'm not really a snob but there you go. I also love Top Shop today as I bought a top from there which I never believed would happen again for this 43 year old chubster. Quote
Mr Magoo Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 John Lewis and Selfridges, also Carrs Pasties. Quote

MalcolmW Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My favourite department store is Bourne Sports of Hanley. They have a football department, rugby department, cricket department, athletics department, hockey department, and so on. Everything you could possibly want. Quote
freds dad Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 I'll start with John Lewis and Selfridges. Sorry forgot to add Wilsons Pie Shop in Kearsley. Quote
miamiwhite Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Sandys superstars splendid effort for a friday night. i'll be back in 45mins Quote
Winchester White Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My local coop as it has a half decent Rioja on at half price at the moment and their own make Cava is actually ok (and much better than some of the shite champers about) for less than 6 quid which keeps the missus happy/quiet. I must be getting on a bit now though as I actually like Next for some stuff, especially when they have a sale on and I can get some adidas trainers and Levi jeans with a reasonably decent discount. Youri McAnespie Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My favourite shop was 'Power-Cuts' record shop in Manchester, Chepstow Street, behind Oxford Road Mcdonalds - especially during the September two week sale. Paradise it was...I think it's one of Bannantyne's wanky health clubs nowadays. Vinyl Exchange was a close second, holding out week after week until they price marked the LP you were after down to a reasonable price... These days, apart from necessary visits to buy masonry nails, jeans/underwear or gifts, I dunno why a bloke would bother...Especially single ones - let's face it, we probably need a pan, a knife and a spoon and possibly a drinking vessel of some kind (I used an empty jar once for a week) and we'd be reet. What could a bloke possibly want from Selfridges (apart from a new spoon?). Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) When it was opposite the Old Three Crowns - I got a Denver Broncos Mesh NFL Shirt from there in the 80s, thought I was the dog's in it. JJB when it was in that old cinema was another good 'un, always had really natty t-shirts for about £5, I got a adidas Lendl 'Triangle' tank-top from there - it was a beauty and only about £7. Whittakers used to be fucking ace as well - Knickerbocker Glory ice creams in the restaurant on the top floor, really good sports section... Edited March 1, 2013 by Youri McAnespie Quote
Bigtoe Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Allsports and Gibson's when I was a young lad. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Was that the old school shop that sold boots and dubbin etc. all kitted out in wood, with those library ladders? There was a painter and decorators shop near there too iirc with an elephant above the door - Orrells? Alstons too...Kew House Chicken Shop! It's heartbreaking thinking how vibrant, diverse and busy our town once was. Quote
