Estupendo Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Not these days, unless he puts me right ?Challenge to an east londoner! The producer got his name on the book too and was the main driver behind the film. I believe they haven't got their target funds yet. he's on here Quote
Estupendo Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Ps the above was meant to be my reply to 'I think he's on here'. Sorry folks, my I phone f.ck up. Quote
superkev Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 If hes a good friend of yours then why not ask him? I have asked him and he says the budget is 5 million and they have about 3-3.5 million. Quote
Lever Ender in L.A. Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Found this on YouTube. For God sake...who checked this footage........Union Jack upside down !!!! This is a story that the whole world needs to know about, but this glaring mistake makes the trailer look a bit amateurish.....if someone associated with the movie is a poster on here.....please fix it Quote
superkev Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Apparently it's not the trailer. It's just a promotional video to drum up interest. The director of the film had nothing to do with the promo vid. Quote
Lever Ender in L.A. Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 On www.wartimewanderers.com the flag is the right way up.....and you get a little extra footage....I hate seeing our flag displayed the wrong way, I once sent an email the The White House as they had the corridor lined with Union Jacks for Tony Blair's visit and half of them were upside down.....I got a really long letter of apology from them.....thought I was going to get a tax audit !!! jayjayoghani Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 The 70th anniversary of Harry Goslin's death is December 18th. Anyone know if the club plans a commemoration? You never know, the publicity might get some funding for Wartime Wanderers Quote

Site Supporter MickyD Posted July 29, 2018 Site Supporter Posted July 29, 2018 Saw a post on Face Ache earlier which reminded me of this. Is it anywhere nearer fruition? Are they still trying to raise funds or did someone run away with the already-pledged funding? Quote
gonzo Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Wouldn’t anyone outside of Bolton be interested in any of this? Quote
Boothy Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Might be easier to do some kind of exhibition at the Macron rather than a film. They don't do enough stuff like that surrounding our great history. Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 29, 2018 Site Supporter Posted July 29, 2018 Wouldn’t anyone outside of Bolton be interested in any of this? I think if it was done well I think it would be, concentrate on the history and story, rather than too much of it being a Bolton Wanderers thing. Plenty of good historical wartime movies about. Some good fictional ones too. Quote
jayjayoghani Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Wouldn’t anyone outside of Bolton be interested in any of this? They could cast The Rock as Harry Goslin? Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 That young lad off the telly, he was on Brian Conley last week, Bradley Walsh, he's got the role of Harry. Used to be a trainee at Brentford, so he should look the part. Might be stretching it now he's in his early fifties, but perhaps Sly Stallone could be cast as the 'keeper, to bump the box office appeal? Quote
Boothy Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Early 70s more like. With a face that looks like a melted Waxwork Quote
Sweep Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Wouldn’t anyone outside of Bolton be interested in any of this? That’s the problem, nobody would really be arsed. The book is dull as fuck, I just don’t see how it could become a film that would interest anybody, especially from outside the area Quote

The book is dull as fuck, I just don’t see how it could become a film that would interest anybody, especially from outside the area Maybe they could put a twist on it were one of the players is a German spy and has a mission to kill the King and bring down the government while having a romantic connection with a member of the Warburton family. Whites man Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 That’s the problem, nobody would really be arsed. The book is dull as fuck, I just don’t see how it could become a film that would interest anybody, especially from outside the area I think it would be a nailed on success along the lines of the Escape to Victory. It's a story of a group of young lads going to war rather than a Bolton Wanderers thing. Quote
Sweep Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) I'm not sure Escape To Victory can be hailed as a success can it? - it's a pretty shit film isn't it. The fact nobody seems to be remotely interested in financing the film probably shows how little appeal there actually is for the film Edited July 29, 2018 by Sweep Quote
bolton va va Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Off topic a bit, but Lever Ender in LA hasn't been around here for a long time. Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Bit of artistic licence switches it to United players Suddenly, it's a massive thing Sad, but true I think it’s a great story and I’m sure of it would have been Man U it’d of already hit the screen. As it was Bolton fan who wrote the book not sure that would be possible. Thankfully. Quote
