tomski Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Quiet one tonight for me, I think I'm still rough from Bristol. A few of the lads are still out and onto a winner.... I'm tempted to pay for them to stay tomorrow so they can try to complete their hat trick Ha ha good work pal. Quote
Elvis Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Great day out but don't remember much What’s new!! Quote
Henry_VIII Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Funniest thing was watching young uns celebrating our second goal by throwing their beer in the air/at each other not realising the match on the screen was Cardiff v Boro.... Quote

tshape Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Ive not been bogdans biggest fan this year, but they were 2 brilliant saves which we could be looking back at in a few weeks. Should of done better with the free kick though Our wall for the free-kick was a bit of a fucking joke though. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Our wall for the free-kick was a bit of a fucking joke though. It's upto Bogdan to organise the wall. Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 It's upto Bogdan to organise the wall. Correct, he's the last man and should be talking the defence through the match, it's on his shoulders to be fair. Quote
DazBob Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) I'm not sure he can make the people in the wall any taller can he? Also, is it his decision whether those in the wall all jump, or just one or two do? Edited May 2, 2013 by DazBob Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Given the wall was small, then his positioning was poor. I like Bogdan, I still think he can become a very good keeper, however, he hasn't inspired me with as much confidence as Lonergan has this year. He doesn't seem to organise or communicate to the defence as well as he should be doing. Quote
DazBob Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Given the wall was small, then his positioning was poor. Not sure I get that. Shirley a goalkeeper positions himself based on where he's put his wall, not based on the height of his wall. There's no point in having a wall in the first place if you have to stand behind it. Not sure who it was who didn't jump, but if he had've done like the two either side of him did then maybe we wouldn't be having this discussion. ... or maybe we can just congratulate Noone on managing to get it up and down and as close to being in the bottom corner as was possible. Any closer and it would've hit the post. Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I thought you were insinuating the wall was small, but i also thought his positioning was poor, too far over towards the other post. You know sometimes at a match, you have a moment, when you look at things, & say "this is in", & it is, had one of those moments when I saw his positioning tbf. You're right though, cracking freekick........ Bastard that he is , really wanted those 3 points Quote
Casino Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 i'm in the 'bogdan is nowhere near as good as jussi but we were fcuking spoiled for over 10 years' camp he's still a good keeper, still young, still time to get better and i'm hopeful he can get close to jussis level but, i'm shit scared every time we concede a free kick 20-25 yards out the one at cardiff? sometimes you have to say 'well done' and maybe this was one of those Quote

You're right though, cracking freekick........ Bastard that he is , really wanted those 3 points No. not at all. My point was you position a wall and, to a certain extent, you're simply hoping the free-kick taker isn't able to get it over that wall and under the bar. Noone managed to do that with ease. Mind you , you also hope your wall does its job and those in it are willing to take one in the mush, rather than "do a Nasri". You'll also get some jumping and some not. I guess we were unlucky that Noone opted to kick it over the head of our non-jumper. Having said all that, I agree with Casino in that Bogdan scares me to death at free-kicks. Was it Dempsey last season who beat him from 30 yards at the Reebok and as soon as it left his boot you could see it was going in. At least he makes an effort to get there though, rather than falling to his knees and watching it nestle into the net over his shoulder Edited May 2, 2013 by DazBob Quote
Traf Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Jussi was shit in his first couple of years here and I lost count of how many times he was beaten from outside the box, including loads of free kicks. Give Boggers time. We've got to 6th with him in goal. Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 We've got to 6th with him in goal. Abso-bloody-exactly! Quote

It seems, with Bogdan, folk only ever seem to pick up on the negatives. Quote
Traf Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I must apologise for my earlier positive post, I'll try not to let it happen again. Booooooooooooo! Get off, you're shit! etc etc Quote
Didledee Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Is that the same "talent" that took us down? Bit late of a reply, but we didn't have Lee or Holden. we'd have been well clear with them two, or at least 1 point better off. Quote

MalcolmW Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 You might be right, but you could probably if 'n' and your way to winning the league if you put your mind to it. Reminds me of the Ally MacLeod story (the one who thought Scotland would win the World Cup). He was managing Ayr and had just got them into the top flight. Looking at the new season's fixtures he said: First match at home - that's 3 points. Then a relatively easy away - another 3. And on and on. Sixth match at Ibrox - well that's another win. "But Ally, that's Rangers at their place!". Yes but they won't fancy it when we've won 5 straight. Quote
