Andydee Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Just listening to it on the radio. Apparently he made about £50m out of selling them! Bought novelty golf ball finders for $10, changed the label and flogged them to governments for £27k. One of the comments was 'I can't believe people were taken in by it' Genius or out and out conman? Quote
Mr Magoo Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 How much testing did these people do, it look's like none. Quote
Traf Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 How much testing did these people do, it look's like none. And that's why he should never have been prosecuted. Quote
DazBob Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Saw this on the news last night. I thought it was hilarious. Surley the blame lies with whoever signed off the purchase orders without checking that anyone had even tested that they work. It contained no electrical components whatsoever did it? Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) What's laughable about the whole story - the fucking makers of the golf ball finder included a caveat of 'just for fun'. It didn't even locate stray balls... I dunno about prosecuting the con-man, what about the fucking pricks who signed the chit to pay for them? Hang 'em! Edit: Will you stop thinking my thoughts please Daz? Edited April 24, 2013 by Youri McAnespie Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 They threw them into the bottom of the UN garden when they found out they didn't work, next day there was a whole fleet of new peacekeeping vehicles sprouting out the ground, all they had to do was slay an Ogre - and they got to keep them. Youri McAnespie Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Don't many I.E.D.s use mobile phones as part of the detonator? Perhaps some detection device could be knocked up using a portable telly and a freeview box? Quote
