Traf Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I ordered something via Amazon Marketplace and when it arrived, it was damaged. They told me to send it back for a full refund: no problems so far. I arrange for a courier service to collect it from me, they collect it and deliver to the original point of sale. I get an email this morning saying I've only returned an empty box! So, no refund. Other than sending my own shit and piss to them and the couriers, what should my next steps be? Quote
birch-chorley Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Was the package insured with the courier? Royal Mail usually are covered to X amount per parcel, I would go down that route if so and make a claim. Quote

And apparently, because it's an electronic/electrical item, it's is the small print that it's not insured, despite me paying extra for insurance! I'm going to call the police, because as far as I'm concerned, someone has stolen the item. Edited July 1, 2013 by Traf Quote

Just finished dealing with a massive problem they created with a delivery I was expecting. Basically, all the Hermes drivers are self employed and just deliver a few parcels each day depending on what's happening in their area. Let's just say that this business model does not inspire the workforce to place the customer's needs first. I hope you get it sorted, but personally I wouldn't trust Hermes as far as I could throw them (and that's not very far)! Quote

Presumably, you'll get the same driver collecting. Enlist the assistance of a few lads if needed, grip the the bastard when he arrives and refuse to release him until he's sorted it Quote

Accept the parcel at your house or wherever you have these things delivered to, take out the item you've bought and phone Amazon and tell them the parcel was empty and you would like your money refunded. Of course, they'll want proof that the parcel was empty and at this point you tell them that, as they didn't supply proof when they claimed your previously returned item, why do the rules change when it happens the other way. You may not actually get the refund but you'll make a lot of people at Amazon squirm a bit. Quote
birch-chorley Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Did you pay on credit card? If so claim through them and they will pay you out Quote

enzo gambaro Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I've taken issues with couriers to Amazon twice and both times they've made it clear it is a third party problem. No apology, no acceptance of even a hint of culpability, no nothing. A mention of regular reviewing of couriers was about as close as I got. That was after a package had been left in the pouring rain, on the doorstep of a house more than half a mile away. The owners were out but their neighbours clocked it and were good enough to bring it round. Cue bored 'whaddyagonnado' shrug at Amazon HQ. Quote
