Traf Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 It looks better on that photo, at least it might have had some soul and/or atmosphere. Quote

paulhanley Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Years ago I can remember my Grandad saying United fans were always twats - even way before Munich and Matt Busby. So to all those in that picture and the modern breed - fuck em. Quote
pato Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Why is this shit hole on this message board? somewhere to vent apart from old trafford Quote
anewman Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 No different to burnden, they developed, we moved, we were wrong Quote
Whites man Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 No different to burnden, they developed, we moved, we were wrong The filth moved across town from Newton Heath a few years before that photo was taken. Quote
jules_darby Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 The filth moved across town from Newton Heath a few years before that photo was taken.NH to OT is about 6 miles Bolton town centre to Horwich is about the same OT is alot closer to Manc town centre than the Reebok is to Bolton though Quote
MalcolmW Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 OT is just a little further from St Peters Square than their previous ground (on the Velodrome car park). Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) Fuck that sterile shitheap (Theatre of Shite) everytime I've been I'm disappointed when there's no rollercoasters once you're in. About our home... I missed the Everton game as I was unable to get out of work, my first game was therefore against the vermin, I remember drinking in town in Durty Nellies I think - anyway we got a taxi up and got out at the Beehive for another swift one, it was getting on for ten to by this time - I'll never forget the sight though, the police chopper hovering and then, revealed for the first time on a match day... The Reebok in all it's glory. I had a lump in my throat I'm not ashamed to admit it. I was up in the South Stand across the netting from the travelling scum shit, which made the match all the sweeter. The fact you could drink in the ground, go for a piss without getting covered in piss...Loads of lads had gone daft buying shitloads of Fosters and were handing them out to go up for the second half. Nathan Blake you fucking beauty twat the cunt Being absolutely arseholed afterward and ringing some Horwich taxi firm demanding they send their Mercedes to ferry us to The Tavern on the Hill I was only a kid at the time really, but acting the big-time charlie. Sure it's lost a bit of it's sheen over the years but anyone who says that The Reebok wasn't like being brought into the light those first few games, well I think they're fibbing. Con Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I went through that game with only one thought. Please dont let those fuckers get the first goal at our new ground. Was pleased as punch with the 0-0. Quote
tomski Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I genuinely feel sick any time I'm near that swamp. Quote
Rembrandt Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 What match was that pic taken at ? I had the impression OT wasn't usually that full in those days. It was a dump, not as good as Burnden at the time, when I first went in the late 50s. And it's still a dump. I went to an Olympics match there last summer (protective clothing & a good disinfect after) and in some of the best seats there was barely enough leg room or seat width for a performing flea. No wonder it can hold 75000 knobheads. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 If Mohammad won't go to the mountain or whatever the saying is... All Bolton and the vicinity Whites up sticks and move house to one approximately as close to The Reebok as their house was to Burnden when we were at Burnden. Rename all the pubs in the Horwich and Lostock areas with ones like The Cattle Market, The Waggon and Horses, The Sweet Green Tavern, The Brooklyn, King Bill, Greyhound etc. Get all the nursing homes in the area to save their piss to spray around the ground, burn a brazier of pipe tobacco in the middle of the pitch at around 12pm on matchday. Job's a good 'un. Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 If Busby had not entered European comps I wonder how big a club they'd be today? Quote
leigh white Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 If Busby had not entered European comps I wonder how big a club they'd be today?True, we could never handle the knobheads who came to BP in the 75 game, but had some payback in later years. Quote
only1swanny Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 United always had a big fan base as it was a conjoined group of smaller railway teams. . Hence the change of name from newton heath. . The teams covered a massive area of a big city. Quote
