COYW Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Back on the BBC but the final will kick-off at 5.15pm on Saturday evening for the foreseeable future: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/17/greg-dyke-fa-cup-bbc "What are we here for? We're here for people to watch football and enjoy it." Unless you're traveling down from the north for the final. Quote
tomski Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Who didn't or doesn't like Saturday 3 o clock on a day where its the only fixture. Surely it cant be just tv that wants this and gets it? Quote
Carlos Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Not being funny but if we make the final, I couldn't give a fuck what time it was played (or where). If you can't handle travelling to London and back in a day, give your ticket to someone who can. Quote
Sweep Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 If you can't handle travelling to London and back in a day, give your ticket to someone who can. Exactly, folk whinge about it far too much instead of enjoying the occassion Quote
tomski Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Wouldn't give a shiny shit if it was us, Id make a weekend of it, my point was more watching it on the Tele. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) On the brighter side, we non-Sky subscribing non-peasants won't have to go to the pub to watch Bosnia-Herzegovina v. Congo in five years*... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23288211 Stick that up your Gallic, cheese-filled arses Platini and Blatter. Edit: * BBC and ITV already had the TV rights for next year. cbwfcd Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 If it was Sunday at 17:15 I could see a problem, but I don't understand the problem with it being on a Saturday, it gives you more time in the pub beforehand. Quote
mannyroad58 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Last year the TV people were quoted as saying that a tea time kick off allows everyone who goes out shopping in the afternoon to get back and enjoy the final, it boosts the viewing figures by a few million, Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 It's good? That the so-called 'men' of Britain get henpecked into pushing a shopping trolley around Tesco on Cup-Final day? It's bad enough calling into Asda or Tesco for my pre-match snifter of a bottle of Duvel and seeing all these emasculated zombies plodding about, but the one day of the year man should be allowed to enjoy the football by divine right - and a couple of million (or a million if you allow for gender ratio) prefer to go shopping? Fuck 'em. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Even if you've been emotionally/sexually blackmailed or financially guilt-tripped into not going to the game in person, you should be sat in your underpants drinking a can and swearing at the radio. There should be an attitude at least of preserving some sense of being a man. "Fine, i won't go to the match - but if you think I'm coming f*cking shopping..." Quote
