Can they put their prices up mid contract?

Only gone up £1 per month - but presumed when I signed a 2 year deal - that's the price I was paying over the entire contract?

At O2, we want you to have the best digital experience possible. That's why we're always investing in the best technology.   We're already making this happen. But with the current Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation at 2.7%, the cost of everything is going up. As a result, we're adjusting the price of your tariff in line with RPI. This means when you get your March 2014 bill, it will be updated from £37.15 to £38.15.   You'll also see some changes to our other charges, such as for calls and texts if you go over your monthly allowance, international calls and MMS. To see what this means for you, go to o2.co.uk/prices.   Kind regards   Martin Bould

When they say they want to give us 'the best digital experience possible'.  I wonder if this means they are upgrading their technology to give me at least a 3g signal in most parts of town.  Sat here in Heaton at the mo with nowt!

o2 really are scum bags...

Ofcom unveiled new rules about exiting contracts when they were increased mid-term, which the operators agreed to:

Only for o2 to immediately hit their existing customers with a hike and loop hole their way out of the ruling:

I've just fucked them off at the end of my contract, moved to GiffGaff which uses the same network. £10 a month as opposed to £22. Cheeky cunts.

4 contracts with O2 and at no point was mid term price rise mentioned. Wonder how they'd deal with a claim supported by witness affitdavit?

Ofcom said the terms were legal so long as they were clearly flagged at the point of sale. A spokeswoman said: "If a provider were to introduce increases beyond the price or prices a customer agreed to at point of sale, they would have the right to exit that contract without penalty. Ofcom will conduct research, such as mystery shopping, to assess the transparency of contractual information given to customers by providers at the point of sale".

Just had the same message, twats

I'm thinking of going sim only when my contract expires in May

£16 a month, Unlimited calls and texts with 1Gig of data

Posted (edited)

I wouldn't stick with them after that c*nt's trick on principle, even if you went SIM only or not.

GiffGaff do £10 monthly no-contract 'goodybags' - 600 minutes, unilimited texts (I think) and 1GB data - plus you get free calls and unlimted texts to GiffGaff phones for three months (starting or restarting afresh every time you top-up - even if you only top up a £5) - The international minute rates on GiffGaff are really good too, if anyone calls abroad a lot.

Plus if you blag some Giffgaff SIMS and pass them out you get £5 (cash or credit) every time one gets activated.

Some folk plug GiffGaff as a nice sideline (not me), £5 a time every time you pimp one out.

The utility people are just as bad.

I currently pay £155 per month for my Gas & Elec, they've just sent my annual statement of usage, payments etc and new new DD is to be £333.

So, I look at the statements and I've used £1520 worth of fuel/standing charges ie £1824 per year inc VAT. This is £152 per year, so technically they owe me £36. Any way I've just rung them and they said, they've based my payments on the last 3 months usage, ie winter.

Set of fucking idiots.

Anyway, my new payment is now £155, a familiar figure :D

Did exactly the same last month when they said they were putting ours up to £260/mth.

I have our usage in a spreadsheet for the last 8 years.

I have some numbers written on old betting slips.

You may be a geek, but I'm thinking of following suit.

I find my quarterly statements confusing, if I can at least try to make sense of it with a spreadsheet then it's worth it.

Rock and fucking roll
