Moderators Zico Posted July 9, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 9, 2014 Remember folks. European teams never stood a chance playing in a WC in South America. aye, think that myth has been put firmly to bed even if Argentina win it, it shows that it's bollocks, more a coincidence

For the umpteenth time there was no World Cup Final in 1950. There were 4 groups, and the 4 group winners then went into the final group. Sweden and Spain were in that final group. The final match to take place was between Brazil and Uruguay, with Brazil just needing a draw to win the cup for the first time. But it was not, is not, and never will be a World Cup Final. There simply wasn't one in 1950. Btw, Argentina boycotted the tournament, and Germany were excluded for the sins of war. France withdrew at short notice and Scotland didn't bother to take the place they had earned (not that that made much difference).

What I also can't stand is when previous World Cup Finals are referred to as "FIFA World Cup Finals"

Moderators Zico Posted July 9, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 9, 2014 For the umpteenth time there was no World Cup Final in 1950. he didn't say there was, or list 1950 in the list of years or spain/sweden in the teams supposedly in the final he didn't mention the fact you've mentioned it umpteen times maybe why
MalcolmW
The similarities with the Stoke semi final are uncanny. Brazil were without their talisman, Neymar, truly a class above the rest of the team. They went into the game with hope rather than expectation. Once the second goal was conceded they went into absolute meltdown. Bolton were without their talisman, Holden, (who even the pundits had begun to notice) truly a class above the rest of the team. They went into the game with hope rather than expectation. Once the second goal was conceded ....

bgoefc
germany v argentina, fucking fantastic. This WC doesnt stop giving Still think Germany v Holland would have been better. Holland would have been less one sided, expect 2 or 3 0 to the Germans now but hey ho i suppose they deserve it. Which other nation build their own hotel in the middle of a remote Brazilian island whose only access is by ferry, and then turn it into a eco friendly hotel afterwards. Clever stuff! Members bolty58
Amazing how opinions can be so different. I'll stick with history and statistics and tip an Argie win. Aguero and De Maria back - different side. Best defence in the competition. Good attacks win matches, good defences win championships. Germanys outrageous win against Brazil was due to Brazils meltdown, not German genius. We all know what happens when Germans become supremely optimistic. Messi's World Cup. COYW
Still think Germany v Holland would have been better. Holland would have been less one sided There might have been more of an edge to it and Brazil v Argentina would have been the most competitive 3rd place play off in history, but i think Argentina will give Germany more of a game than Holland would have. Burndens Bogs
Germany will Muller( ) the Argies. Di Maria won't recover from a thigh strain after 8 days rest and Messi only seems play well for Argentina when Di Maria plays. Aguero is always one sprint from a hamstring injury. Oh and Germany are a stronger side........imo.
