Cracking interview with Gary Gordon on talksport earlier. He's been a coach at Dortmund since 1993 and is now the head of the academy. Weirdly he's never been asked by an English club or the FA for his advice despite his CV. He said what we pretty much already know. English clubs don't give a shit about the national team. In Germany they do.

Over to Greg Dyke... well his first attempt to take a leaf out the german model with the reserve B league has already been rejected by lower league clubs not sure on the in's and out's but whilst the onus on clubs is to look after themselves, he's going to struggle to get everyone on board with working towards helping out the national team as gonzo said, it's all bout clubs and not national team, think that goes for us fans too
gonzo
Probably does Zico. How many on here would swap us finishing in the top 8 of the premiership with a pretty much all foreign team for Having to play a quota of English players and England doing ok in the next World Cup?? Was our game v Blackburn a few years ago not the first premiership match without an English player in either starting line up?? Or have I just made that up?? Moderators Zico Posted July 15, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 15, 2014 seem to recall it was chelsea v arsenal or maybe that was the first where a starting XI for one team had no englishmen

The Bolton v Blackburn game featured the most nationalities (20). Five English players featured in the 28 players. But Bolton did field 15 nationalities in an Asia cup match, and that was without Stelios, just after Greece's Euro win. (5 subs were allowed). COYW
well his first attempt to take a leaf out the german model with the reserve B league has already been rejected by lower league clubs But we don't necessarily need to slavishly copy every aspect of the German game. It's not that long ago that the Spanish were winning everything and the thinking was that we needed to play more possession football. What we could learn from the Germans is to take what you're good at and focus on that.
