Because he's overachieved in every single premiership job he's had bar Newcastle and that was never working out.

Why wouldn't you?

It was a bit of a joke.

Taking Bolton out the equation though I think the 20 clubs won’t see him like that. He’s made himself a survival specialist on 6 month roles.

limits his opportunities to win anything imo

A big whooosh moment there!

Anyhow, I agree, he was never given a chance of a top job, and an interesting discussion of the wireless the other day harked back to his Allardici comments. They were questioning why there is a desire to go for so many Portuguese managers at the moment.

Blackburn fans liked him. Sunderland fans loved him.

Think Palace fans did too.

The thing is that most clubs after he left went to shite. He's not a good fit for Arsenal really if I'm being serious because he's a "manage club from top to bottom" type and that's just not possible at a massive club. However, I think he's adaptable enough to give it a go. Mind Arsenal are set for years in the wilderness so I'm not sure anyone with sense goes there. That squad is awful and they don't seem to be financially able to compete.

They spent £138m in the summer

Only Man U and Villa spent more

Over the last 5 years they are 5th for gross spend - behind City, United, Chelsea and Everton. So not as bad as I thought. Clearly buying wrong types.

5th highest for wages too. I guess though overall that shows they aren't investing for what their fans expect which would be at least top 4..if not better. But clearly lower spenders are overachieving with right manager and right conditions.

Arsenal were worse in the mid 70s finished 16 th and 17th in the table. They improved from that reaching 3 fa cup finals in a row 78 -80

And actually winning it in 1979, with a beautiful (& hilarious) last minute winner. Surprised you didnt mention that Rog

Good memories of the 80 semi final saga against the Scousers. A Brian Talbot header at Coventry denied the Scouse cunts the double in the 4th match.Instead of great history being created like that nowadays it would be a wank penalty shoot out at Wembley

A proper liverpool hater would mention a later arsenal result

79 was another Scouse title winning season, I think they clinched it in the May snow at Burnden, Sadly for them their double dreams ended in the semi final again, this time thanks to Jimmy Greenhoff at Goodison 😉

Ian Dowie still stuttering his way through for Sky Sports, how the fuck has this clown got a job as a pundit, nearly as bad as that scouse pot noodle headed lesbo!

Owd on a minute. I have met L/H White and whilst he is misguided in both football and politics, I am fairly confident that he is not a lesbo.
