Barnsley have about 43 games from now till May...running on fumes in the playoffs

They also have Plymouth yet, then Wycombe, Sheff Weds and then Ipswich. We could have been knocking right on those auto doors but we have fallen short, we aren't there yet.

Top 6 best chance for us, we just need to make sure we do well in these next 2 games and get some confidence, we are more than capable, just not consistent enough.

Can't understand why there's so many soiling themselves, like any of these results were likely to go our way anyway bar Plymouth v Derby

Wycombe, Barnsley, Peterborough, Ipswich & Plymouth 5 timer was 18/1.

Without Plymouth it was over 6/1 so it was very UNLIKELY they all won.

And yet not a single one of those fixtures looked like ones any of them would slip up in apart from potentially Barnsley v Portsmouth and even that was doubtful

Plenty of twists and turns to go I was hopeful of automatic promotion before Port Vale but that’s gone now just keep in front of Peterborough and Wycombe we will be in the play offs.

Thats the benefit of compounding.

I take your point re expecting any team to win in isolation but for them all to win isn’t good or likely.

Anyway let’s hope Wycombe blow up, but their run in is as easy as ours.

16 out of 18 home wins for Plymouth

Folk seem to keep writing off Plymouth's chances but they keep winning

They weren't even favourites tonight for some reason at home v Derby

A very healthy 7/4

Never thought at any stage we would achieve automatic promotion.

We are capable of the playoffs, not guaranteed, but our chances will improve if we get anything from the next two games.

That promotion feeling you get (many times in the past) just isn’t there yet with this team similar to the Phil Neal years , decent but not quite there. That’s not taking anything away from Evatt & the job he has done.

It may be a longer road ,  but we’ll get there.

We need to refocus and we’ll be fine

Agree with you both. Short term I don't believe our next two results will go our way and things will look worse before they get better, but into April these few weeks without a midweek game could be exactly what we've needed before hitting the 7 league games in April

Wycombe need to win their 2 games in hand by 9 goals to knock us out of the top six. No need to panic.

But they play 5 times & we play twice upto 1st April pre PJ Final.

FWIW I think we’ll still finish 6th but it’s not going to be as straightforward as I thought….

I’ve said it a few times now, Derby are overrated, I’d not be worried playing them in the playoffs.

I'm convinced an aging cobbled squad with no pre season won't go all the way

I'd just rather play them over one leg than two

Funny that I was thinking exactly the same. Wembley it is then.
