That first half was like us.

Sending off helped.

Carsley did a great job. Blooded some U21s and put to bed the super midfield some wanted to see. It's a great squad Tuchel will inherit. World domination is just around the corner. 

Think he did a really good job. Think the next job Carsley goes into they’ll have a good run of it.

Be foolish to leave the U21 set-up. But the call of regular football could be too strong. Especially on the back of his England stint.

I think this is a very good point.

He's also said that he wants to go back to the u21 set up.

He may, as you say, be tempted.

If he was to replace Evatt, though, I’d expect him to learn all the words and “tune” to Who’s That Coming Up The Hill Boys, and sing it with gusto.

I'm the opposite - I think having an academy/youth set up is a waste of money and time - maybe just cherry picking some of those kids let go by the local big clubs, and hoping we get one that's slipped through the net is the way to go.

Completely agree. Anyone mint under 16 leaves for peanuts. Wigan have been years ahead of us on the cherry picking of released players as proved by player sales.

Just my opinion but I'd say we're too far up, or too "big".  He's proved nothing in terms of being the manager of a league club. 

Buying/selling players, dealing confidently with the press, having charisma to get the fans behind you, persuading a player to sign for you instead of someone else, dealing with the chairman/board to get them to give you a bigger budget, handling players unhappy at being dropped, appointing a good backroom staff, bollocking the squad/reacting positively when you lose 3 on the trot, having a plan B!

David Platt, Stuart Pearce, Sammy Lee, Lee Carsley - relatively proven coaches at U21 level, not necessarily cut out to be managers, it would be a brave chairman to put his trust in Carsley IMO.

A fair appraisal. Reckon he might break that mould

But, imo, he aint taking a job in division 3, unless its Brum
