I'm made up for mates who are plastic scousers.  Lads who decided to support Liverpool in the 70s,no idea what made them choose that team at the time, but who, to be fair stuck by them through their lean(ish) years.  It was a buzz watching the Palace fans in their semi final this weekend too but as TMGJ says, it's just nice - not remotely comparable to the excitement one gets seeing us score in even a run of the mill match.

Yeh you’re spot on there.

When it’s not your club it’s all just a passing interest really.

Don’t get me wrong it was pretty special yesterday and I’m pleased I took up the opportunity to go.

But football for me is all about passion, togetherness , your town, your community, tribal bonding, relationships, unique rivalries, history and traditions that go back generations with family.

When it’s not your team, you’re just a casual observer.

I’ll never get this 2nd team nonsense.

Despite its “world wide appeal” and coverage yesterday, it didn’t come close to following Bolton

You can only have one club where time stops when you score.

Exactly.

Not exactly been overly arsed about our lot recently, so the rest register as much as an ant fart.

Actually helps to just enjoy a game as a neutral, and judge objectively.

Like the Palace victory for example.

Sort of my feeling - got a mate who has followed them for years, been to all the 'big games' and away for the CL but was sat in a village just outside Windsor which his Datchet Reds flag in front of the TV last night like he'd watched the end of a Netflix series.

Just don't get how the highs can feel as much if you don't come from the place and it means more than just another title.

I mean I might be wrong, but my daughter is saying why don't we go and watch Whitstable Town in the final of the FA Vase, but honestly, I don't give a fig.

Nor should you.

It's like the foreign football nonces pretending they care about German and Italian teams to appear cool.

Saying things like "Forza Tagliatelle".

Thing is though, it's non league but I just feel like a hang on - there's some supported them for years and now the town has changed a bit you've got a load of Spurs fans shouting 'come on you Oystermen'

Don't get me wrong, I wish them well, but not for me.

Although I did go and console my Arygle mate on Saturday so it's a road trip from East Kent to to Bolton as she's never been.

She's also the legend who did the Orient documentary but she really likes to play that a bit low these days.

I think I heard that Man City have been 30 times in 14 years.

That’s ridiculous if so.

I'm not knocking City fans for this, we all know the many reasons, but I'd assumed they'd took 30k+ and Forest maybe 40k.

But it was 27k, that's low.  Half their average home crowd, like us taking 10 or 11k.

2 years ago v Sheff U the total crowd was 69.6k.

Whitstable bay pint was one of the shittest beers I’ve ever had the other week. Stunk of smelly socks.

For that reason I hope they lose

They've just had a protest about the prices at their own ground.

Given the repeated visits to Wembley, champions league games, domestic cups and league games, it's no bloody wonder that a relatively small number went.

It's not the final neither, which is another bug bear.

Money isn't exactly growing on trees for many, and maybe previous heavy football spending has had to be curtailed.

Especially as they have now got the final itself to pay for; again something for which many will have to budget for, and maybe could only afford the one trip.

I don’t blame them one bit- fans are continually pressed for cash by clubs- and I hope it makes some of the hierarchy wake up.

Doubt it will though.

No reason on planet earth that that semi shouldn't be played at Villa Park.

That play off final last season cost me over £700. Imagine having to do that a couple times a season and probably again in a month or so.

I'm a massive fan of playing semis at neutral venues other than Wembley.  The flipside is that you have Forest taking more fans to Wembley than the total capacity of Villa Park.  And they were absolutely buzzing to be there, singing away well after the result was settled.  Yes they would have been well up for a semi wherever it was played but it wouldn't have matched the atmosphere they created at Wembley in terms of excitement and numbers.  And then it comes down to money of course - even with City taking 27k there were still more there than any other ground holds, unfortunately.

My main gripe about using Wembley for semis and play offs is the disadvantage us northern clubs have, all other things being equal we are going to be outnumbered every time.

Watching the news with the missus this morning with a pint pot of Yorkshire (me, not her).

Once again, three quarters of the fucking news on the passing of a flour grader lookalike.

Went for a slash and when I got back she'd changed news channels just as the presenter said 'Now, an in depth look at Liverpools Premier League champion season'.

My instant response was "FFS, put the holy grope back on".

Presumably he has a PSG shirt on so that the Arse can’t usurp their season.
