Liverpools demise (allez, allez, allez) topped off a great weekend. Obviously our win was the main course but the missus' lot delighted at the rebound win for Napoli over what they think will be their main title rivals. The grief junkies loss was the cherry on top.

Decided on a celebratory cruise up the West Coast Highway today. Spot of lunch looking out over the Indian Ocean washed down with a few beers (or night riders) to toast our sensational win.

Just about over the jet lag too. Bonus.

Are we holding a vigil ( Van Dyke) for LH White?

Excellent to see those scousers losing again.

With Slot complaining that opponents aren't letting Liverpool play the way they want to.

Takes me right back to Bob Paisley complaining that Ian Greaves set Bolton up to park the bus ... & succeeded.

Mad to think that whilst we've been stuck in league one we've twatted Sunderland who are now second in the PL

And been embarrassed by Carlisle who are now in the conference

I see Hearts are looking promising and making Scottish football interesting for a change

been here before with Aberdeen though who crumbled later in the season

as Hibs fan @Leyther_Matt, would you be happy to see Hearts win the title and get one over on the old firm, or not

They do seem to have more steel than Aberdeen last season, though they are probably fortunate that their first game against Celtic was at home rather than Celtic Park.

The grown up way of approaching it would be to say that it would be fantastic to have a different league winner. But football is all about pettiness so I’ll quite happily let Hearts get all the way to the final hurdle and then lose the title on the last day to an own goal against an already relegated team (ideally Rangers if we’re talking relegation candidates 😁)

Hearts are certainly an interesting example of data-driven recruitment proving to be successful (so far) compared to BWFC’s attempts in a similar field.

data driven recruitment in Scotland

Do they own a pair of boots? If yes, sign them, if no, have trial first.

We do use some data- that's how JD etc finds players who have shown an ability to succeed in a given area that the manager wants to strengthen.

Fortunately, there is more humanity too.

Watching City they do not look like scoring and look like conceding every attack.

Just had a look at their line up: are they as solid in the midfield area as they could be?

Villa are on song at the moment, and your comments suggest they are in control of this one too.

Still, Pep has time to sort them for the second half.

Bellingham firing for Real.

Tremendous assist and a goal so far today.

can't believe Szczesny is still going at this level

he signed for Arsenal a year before Lamal was born

If anyone fancies some obscure football, I have started following a Norwegian team called Tromsø IL, it's been a lot of fun and they look like they might get into Europe. They're the most northern professional football club in the world and play in the article circle. I love em that much I've started a UK supporters group on Facebook hahaha.

There's an app called Onefootball and you can get a lot of free matches on there. Anyone else like following some random overseas teams or leagues?

Also, Mjallby AIF just won the swedish league after getting promoted last season. They are from an area with around 1000 people in it, it's been quite an interesting story

I think it also helps that Celtic are so bad this season.  And that's not taking anything away from Hearts winning all but 1 game so far, but god that OG, the pen conceded and the CB moving away from the shot for the 2nd goal, were absolute non league level.

Lawrence Shankland has been a striker I've enjoyed watching for years now, real quality finisher (I know you're Hibs, just giving Hearts a bit of credit).  Hoping there's a proper title race in Scotland for a change.

Fantastic story that.  Always loved watching Jamie Cureton's goals back in the day, what a striker he was in the lower divisions for donkeys years.  Playing and scoring at 50 is ridiculous.

His team is 2nd in the table, but have 3 games in hand on the leaders Holland!

Remember him alongside Barry Hayles and Jason Roberts as a prolific strike force for Bristol Rovers back in the late 90s

Had to check when he played in the PL

Was his first season as a pro, at Norwich, in 1993!!

That was a proper strike force, I'd forgotten about Barry Hayles.  Wierd coincidence, he was still playing (for Windsor) till 2023, retired at 51.  OK he was mainly a coach but played 12 and scored one in his last year.

I'm hoping Cureton signed for Kings Park Rangers so that he was the only player to play for QPR and KPR.

Looks like it’s game over at Vale Park. Stockport 3 up

They should be down to 10 men, their lad up top has just punched the Vale centre back in the face off the ball (completely randomly) - properly bust his nose! Ref gave a yellow card which is a terrible decision, he either didn’t see it or he did and it’s the most obvious red you’ll ever see.

I’ve no idea how they’re 3-0 up. Vale have missed 2 sitters and hit the bar. You’d be seriously pissed off as a Port Vale fan to be 3-0 down and not now facing 10 men
