DazBob
Hmmm, looks a lot chunkier than the other two I saw earlier. Maybe the Neil Lennon poppy photoshopper has been at work again.

jules_darby
Trotter did alright IMO. Didn't give the ball away and covered well defensively. Looked a good partner for Clough who outshined most of the team.Thank you Good to hear
Mounts Kipper
Thank you Good to hear I thought Trotter looked pretty good and also looked match sharp, be interesting to see if Lennon worked his magic on Trotter because he did look like a player last night. onlyoneawalker
Eidur has always been big boned and has never relied on pace that's what makes me think he's more than half a chance of helping is get positive results - players like eidur hierro campo sheringham hoddle are great footballers and the reason they can play on in to their late 30's
Moderators Casino Posted December 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 2, 2014 all true but his cv for the last few years doesnt give me a great deal of hope hes still got what it takes i think its only right we are the ones to make sure, mind
Sweep
I think it'll come down to how much money he wants. As Cassie points out, his CV for the last for or five years has been a bit shit. He's been to Monaco, Tottenham, Stoke, Fulham, AEK Athens, Seattle Sounders, Cercle Brugge and Club Brugge and not done particularly well for any of them. I'm not holding out much hope for him being too great for us. I'd love him to sign for us and be great, but I'm just not sure he will be. Moderators Zico Posted December 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 2, 2014 NL says "impact player" no reason he can't come on with 15 mins to go and spray some nice passes about... his record at both Bruge clubs was ok, but obvs he's not cut out for top level footy anymore, or probably 90 mins hopes are not high - it will never be like first time round, not even close, but no harm in having him on the bench as we all know, plenty average-ness in this league, so long as he has a bit of class left he has something to offer
Leyther_Matt
Certainly didn't look particularly overweight in person last night. Showed at times that he's still got that touch of quality that could make all the difference in this league, albeit it would be as a cameo player rather than expecting a couple of 90 minutes every week. Would add that Wilkinson looked terrific in patches last night - if he can pick up the best bits of Gudjohnsen and Craig Davies in training then we could have a hell of a player on our hands. The very reason Club Brugge signed him was because he was doing so well for Cercle Brugge. Bit like starring for Bury and being snapped up by Bolton. oggybwfc
I read the interview with Cravies where he spoke of Eidur pulling him to oneside to give him a bit of advice, and he was buzzing over it . small things like that show he is a class act and can only benefit the strikers. Sweep
NL says "impact player" no reason he can't come on with 15 mins to go and spray some nice passes about... I'd love him to be a success. I guess it will come down to finances. Hopefully he's not too fussed about the cash now, and to be fair he won't have been paid a lot at some of his most recent clubs, so hopefully he'll be happy signing for a minimal wage (in footballing terms)
COYW
I wouldn't be surprised if it's costing practically nothing in terms of wages and we're just paying him appearance money, win bonuses, etc. The rest will be made up in pies, which he's already had the first down payment on by the looks of things. We are in an average but very competitive league, teams that drop from premiership struggle because it lacks quality but has lots of effort , just worries me if he ain't up to it it could a sad sight. While NL seems to be great at tapping into the sort of things that really get the fans and the town onside with the club, I'm not sure he's anything like daft enough to invest even a modest amount of finance on the return of a former hero, only for him to trundle around and get knocked over like a tellytubby when he lets him loose in a match. If NL offers him a deal, he won't be considering it a gamble
