there aren't currently any concessions for student types.

if that's the case, it needs addressing.

We've got the local uni on our shirts FFS.

I'm not complaining about ST prices, on the whole - mine costs less now than it did in 98 (tho then it was East lower and now it's North lower), which is pretty impressive. It's the on the day prices which are killing us (and lots of other clubs) and are the reason you can pretty much predict crowds from week to week - unlike in the past when you might get a sudden surge of on the day fans for big games, especially when we were doing well. Nowadays, we're relying on our core season ticket support - which was built up steadily over many years but which DF almost single handedly was in danger of destroying.

It's how we get more in whilst still rewarding the loyalty of those who stick with the club through thick and thin. Why, for example, is someone who gets a season ticket for the first time ever next season able to pay exactly the same as someone who's had one for 30 years in a row (including Div 4)? Why can't there be a loyalty card scheme like supermarkets have? If they're supposed to be running a business. There's more thought gone into this in this one thread - and better ideas - than almost anything the club has come up with in my lifetime. Make me the Ticketing/Marketing Manager and I GUARANTEE I'd fill the fucker next season. :-)

Agreed

Well, apart from you being Marketing Manager!

Yeah I wrote to the club a while back but they told me they pulled it a few years ago and have no plans to bring it back.

Probably lots of people using fake ID's back in the day, but we've moved on since then.

They switched it to under 23s with the line that folk who went straight in to work rather than being students would benefit.

My cousin certainly has done.

He's a perfect example of what working with the kids does.

He's from a family of armchair reds and started coming to the kids a quid games with us. Did some stuff with the princes trust and the club.

He isn't a student but benefits from the u23s tickets, paying adult prices I'm not sure he could afford it.

Whatever they do, someone is going to miss out. Strange thing is I was making far more money at 22 than I am now, so the system is a bit wonky. You can be a well paid 22 year old getting a cheap ticket or a poorly paid 37 year old paying top whack.

One match, and one match only. 15000 seats to be filled. Pay what you want at the turnstile. Most will want a feed and drink when in captivity.

The biggest asset the club have at the minute is Lennon. If the club launches something to get attendances up with discounted tickets I reckon Lenny fronting the campaign will have most of us season ticket holders supporting it.

When calculating the price per head, season ticket kids are 3 quid a game

There's adults paying 6 quid to bwfc and 4 to a pub/kids team

There's no way bwfc is too expensive

Not everyone can get those tickets though

Can they

Last season in the Prem/first season in the Championship I had a decent run of the £10 tickets but by the second season I bought a season ticket instead - much less messing about chasing the tickets, sitting all over the place every week etc. Dare say I'm the sort of example the club would look for (especially as I'd go down as a bit of a lapsed fan at times over the years because of work, family and the like).

Would say the U23 discount might be better served as U21, but both are miles better than chasing folk for student proof, especially as full time student status is very hard to really nail down.

Keep focusing on the kids, it has worked well so far

I would push marketing at 2 specific games until end of season

First one would be all season ticket holders can bring additional fans for £1, max 4 tickets (subject to availability). Free transfer for ST holders around the ground so all the group can sit together

Second one would be a free ticket and coach transport. I would hire 200 coaches for primary schools in Bolton and give 50 tickets per coach for kids/parents. 10,000 tickets with no revenue, maybe even a 20000 cost but sometimes you have to go to extremes to bring future customers in

I would also target schools in Leigh and Chorley with free tickets

id track them down if i couldnt afford a season ticket even though id not know where to start

me and two young uns get in each game for less than £25 so the 8 quid average is very believable

Getting cheap tickets is not that simple. Fair play to you. That's a good deal. Some people cannot get / afford the costs.

Think Brentford did something similar recently and had a decent turnout.

I like the second idea very creative.

People who need free tickets AND free transport to the ground aren't worth bothering with. They're not coming back. Well not unless you send a chauffeur driven limo for them next time. Incidentally how much do you think 200 hundred coaches, plus stewards, plus tickets, would cost the club?

You want me to pay top dollar and be surrounded by thousands of freeloaders? Fuck that.

If we're going down the route of (controlled) freebies then there's plenty of space that could be used in the South Stand.

Who's to say some kids wouldn't become lifelong fans? Once a season could be worth it, maybe a kids of Bolton sponsored event? I would think the coaches would be £250 quid each = 62k.
