frank_spencer Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I was lucky enough to be made redundant last year. It enabled me to sit on my arse all summer before sprucing up my CV and get a job with far better prospects whilst still having more money in the bank than I've ever had before and probably ever will have again. Fair fucks to anyone who can get it if they want it. My mate got made redundant in November from Barclays. he's dicked about since then, he's off to auz for the tail end of the cricket world cup then how soon he thinks about getting a job after that depends on how much he wastes out in boltyland. The money the council is offering is no where near what he got. Quote

In my opinion Smiffs actually is wrong. The bone idle and incompetent shouldn't be offered redundancy, they should be sacked. That way fewer people need to be made redundant once the chaff has been separated from the wheat Quote
tarian1979 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 How many weeks per year do the council get with vr? I'm 8 year's in in the private sector and if it happens before November I'll get 4 per year which would be great. It won't happen but after that it drops to statutory which I think is a week per year. statutory is a week a year but capped at 450 quid per year even if earn 1000 a week. That's what I'll get when some work transfers, howeverI'm on a chunky retention to see it out to the end and notice period of 14 weeks paid without working so worth me staying and chancing it Quote

Big E Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 If I was offered a package like council folk do I would be off. After all you only need to dust your cv off, spruce it a little and get yourself a new one. Simples Quote

Big E Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 that's only true if you're not a bone idle cunt with no alarm clock. That's why I top and tail with my work dad so I don't need to worry about being late..... Quote
frank_spencer Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 you do see the obvious difference, dont youYes but Carlos had said that in the 'real world' you only get statutory redundancy. My dad did when walmsleys went bump but I know of folk who didnt when costs were being cut. There was one fella who had been at a company for 20 odd years they gave him a years wages in a lump sum as his pay off. You can blame the unions for the lack of unvoluntary redundancy as they want good folk to leave and find their way rather than dead weights get pushed out. Quote

Smiffs Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Anyone listening to me or MR58 need to use the brain God gave them first and not the ramblings of two white middle aged men working in the private sector. Micky is actually right, they should be sacked. We all know this does not happen (much) in the civil service due to the red tape and union backing these useless cunts hide behind, hence the more subtle route of redundancy is used. Thankfully the private sector has more balls to get shut of bone idle deadwood once they prove themselves to be fucking useless and are not shit scared of some union cunt who might be unhappy with it.
