Underpants Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 saw this on FB so it's highly likely to be incorrect or misinformed, but anyway: Yes, old news. But now that they have been given the green light how many schools are flying the flag and singing the anthem? Interesting, don't you think. Quote
frank_spencer Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Have schools ever flown the union flag or sung the national anthem? I certainly never did. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Another Yank type thing, totally un-British in my opinion, we know we're great, we don't need to crow about it. Happen they should concentrate on ensuring their pupils leave school (Primary and Secondary) literate and numerate... What happens if (some arsey non-conformist ) little shit refuses to sing as they're an atheist non-monarchist? What if a pupil is of German extraction and will only sing Deutschland Uber Alles whilst Nazi saluting a swastika? The mind boggles. Quote
tomski Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Agree its a yank thing. But if it makes people happy why not Quote

Site Supporter MickyD Posted February 25, 2015 Site Supporter Posted February 25, 2015 Just spoke to my wife's cousin's daughter. She teaches in Brian, Texas. Her school do the pledge of allegiance in both English and Spanish and also recite the pledge to Texas. It doesn't make their kids grow up into better or worse human beings than ours though I guess. Underpants Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) I pass St Marys Primary School in Hawkshaw every day. They have the flag up. And is it fuck an American thing. This country was putting flags up outside, and on buildings before America was even invented. Edited February 25, 2015 by Underpants Quote

Saying that I pass hawkshaw a lot and the flag doesn't provoke an emotion either way for me. Edited February 25, 2015 by tomski Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I always used to put my flag up at England games, patriotic BB. Quote
