A number of comments initially then next to nothing. No attempt to introduce legislation to stop participation- wonder why that might be?

If he's got a beef, take it up with the footballing authorities. If they refuse to change the location then look at further action. He (all of them) could have done more but didn't. 

So now, he's trying to make a belated point by refusing to watch the lads. It's not their fault.

I wonder what will happen should we win- will he stand up in Parliament (as he did to say he won't watch) and congratulate them? Would he have refused a reception for them if he'd been pm?

Folk can see the difference between criticising the decision to play there, and supporting the players, except him and a few others with another pissing with the wind stance, to court favour with the usual lot.

It's not that as such, it's the hypocrisy. On one hand he's very vocal about being anti thus WC and the issues in the country and then takes money from it.

Although as has also been discussed Beckhams sneaky, less vocal way of taking the money is just as bad, if not worse.

Yes there is hypocrisy about this everywhere and it's OK to be conflicted, saying governments are just as bad doesn't excuse one from the other.

I've still not made my mind up, I'll watch our matches. At least (as has been seen on other threads) it's made more people aware about the depth of the corruption at every level of world football.

Many are - you should read some of Philippe Auclair's stuff, his knowledge of football governance is fantastic. The BBC are all over it - there was even a piece on Newsround the other day, plus stuff on You Tube from the BBC.

Today programe is just about to do a piece on it in a moment.

One of the issues is legal, what you can and can't say without getting into legal trouble if nothing has been 'proved', so all you can do is highlight or suggest the dubiousness of awarding the tournment, and commercial stations don't want to get into that trouble, as well as - some of this is very difficult and dense stuff which a lot of football broadcasters - with all the best will in the world - don't know that much about.
