Right - forgetting the bent bidding process and the conditions of the migrant workers building the stadiums - does anybody else agree that a Nov/Dec competition has the potential to be ace?

 

Firstly because it will take up most of the traditional Christmas bullshit season so we'll all be talking about football and not festivities. Secondly just for the novelty factor. And thirdly because we can see whether or not our well worn excuse about our players being tired stands up to scrutiny.

It feels wrong for this to be decided by penalties.

What a fabulous game of football and I know it’s a horrible way to decide a game but even the penalties drama was amazing. The two unarguably best players in the World excelling for their teams but what a match and at least Mbappe has his hat trick to remember.

Agreed, 90 onwards are the ones I've been conscious of and it wipes the floor with all of them from then on.

Been loads with incredible individual performances since then from say Baresi or Zidane or Ronaldo but nowhere near the entertainment and drama of this one
