exiledwhite2 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Never heard about this, shocking if true. (Link is to a Guardian news story) Bradford fire Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Sounds plausible loads of bent business folk have started fires to claim insurance. Quote
Naytch Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Linked to EIGHT fires before the Bradford one, and was apparently struggling to pay his staff at the time. Yep, dodgy as fuck. Wouldn't be shocked at all to hear it was deliberate. Quote
exiledwhite2 Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 Was always astonishing how quickly it went up. Quote
Ghana White Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 That's dark. Poor families have been through enough now this. Quote
gonzo Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Was always astonishing how quickly it went up. Still can't get my head round the fact that this is real time. It takes longer to poach an egg. Unbelievable. Before anyone starts can we please not turn this into Hillsborough discussion please. Quote
Naytch Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I cannot believe those fucking idiots grinning and jumping infront of the cameras as the stand is burning behind them with people dying. Absolutely despicable Quote
Big E Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I cannot believe those fucking idiots grinning and jumping infront of the cameras as the stand is burning behind them with people dying. Absolutely despicable I doubt they knew that was the case at the time! Quote
Naytch Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I doubt they knew that was the case at the time! True, but not exactly the time to piss about is it when half the ground is ablaze. Quote
MickyD Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I'm sure they didn't. Consider a wooden stadium, you know, like Burnden. Then get a fire going underneath the stand and then once it has been going for a minute or so, start instructing folk to evacuate as quickly as they can. I know for a fact that many will try to get out the way they came in. It's the way they know. I also know that having a double crash- gate with a padlock and chain stopping them opening was the main thing that caused most of the deaths. Had the gates not been locked there would have been significantly fewer lives lost. Don't think people will only go out the way they came in? Take a look at this from America. Warning, very graphic. https://youtu.be/OOzfq9Egxeo Quote
gonzo Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 That's grim as fuck Micky. Especially those first few minutes you see everyone panic. How many pegged it in that?? Quote
MickyD Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Station_nightclub_fire 100 dead Quote
only1swanny Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Station_nightclub_fire 100 dead When you realise how many died in the corridor.. That's grim Quote
gonzo Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Station_nightclub_fire 100 dead Jesus. That all makes grim reading. Pyrotechnics indoors was never going to end well. Either was coating the place out in flammable foam to be honest. Bet that tour manager struggles sleeping at night. Quote
RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Only watched the Bradford fire video once & have no wish to ever see it again. Truly disturbing, can't begin to imagine if it had been Burnden....& it could so easily have been. Quote
COYW Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Never heard about this, shocking if true. (Link is to a Guardian news story) Bradford fire It does make you wonder why the press just repeated what they were told when all that information was out there all the time. He's right, it shouldn't have been left to him. He says that the exit gates at the back of the stand, were open all the time, but because they left the padlocks on, presumably people just assumed in the limited visibility that they were locked. That's something else that didn't come out at the time either. Quote
Spider Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Blimey I'm tempted to think the guy might be on to something Though I doubt he would ever have intended to kill anyone. Can't watch that video ever again Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Can't watch that video ever again Same for me. It's the old chap at the end just stumbling out of the stand on fire. Harrowing. Quote
Traf Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Only watched the Bradford fire video once & have no wish to ever see it again. This Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Just watched it again, don't know why though, as it always puts a tear in my eye. I think it's the stark difference, between the folk laughing and dancing compared to the people on fire, and in hindsight knowing that so many people were being burnt to death under the stand. Remember watching it on the News as it unfolded. Quote
