Here We Go - Itk Transfer Gossip

He was absolutely outstanding as a kid coming through at Hibs under Tony Mowbray, arguably the most talented of the crop of the time that included Garry O'Connor, Steven Whittaker, Kevin Thomson and Scott Brown. Scored from all over the park, set goals up for fun and equally adept with either foot.

Made some questionable decisions off the pitch (much like O'Connor), wasted a couple of years sat on the bench at Celtic and never recovered.

He went back to play at Hibs a few years ago and was pretty dreadful, as you'd expect with the list of clubs he's had since.

If its a choice between selling him for that or paying the tax bill I know which I'd prefer.

I know

Some people still don't seem to realise the financial issues that we currently have. They would rather the club went to the wall rather than sell a player.

In the scheme of things, 750 grand will keep us going for three weeks ish. Unless a deal was close and this tidied us over it seems almost futile. Having him onboard for as long as absolutely possible might make us just that bit more attractive to a potential buyer.

Beggars can't be choosers though I suppose

I want to see him reach something like his potential but we should be looking at minimum of 4 million with big clauses for future sell on. This lad is the real deal.

So is anything less than £4M the magic figure where you fuck it off?

Say we go into admin and go down I'd rather sell physical assets like the ground and training facilities before we allow our brightest and most valuable player go for well less than his potential value.

When we go down we're going to need players like Clough to get us back, not throw away a chance to actually realise the potential of a home grown talent for 3 more weeks of uncertainty. Because let's be honest we're down either way and i'd rather it be with him after whatever financial penalties than scraping by with a bunch of fucking no marks that we'd be left with.

He's one of the very few shining lights that keeps drawing md back at the moment.

I said sell any of the physical assets before we even think about selling our best players. At that point it really is over for us.

I'd happily sell some of our physical assets, but I'd much rather we sold members of our playing staff than our ground though - if we have no ground then we really are in the shit - look what happened to Coventry the other season

For what it's worth, I don't think Clough would be sold for £750K, and there is nothing at all to suggest that we will be. He might be sold in the near future though, and if selling him for a decent amount buys us until the end of the season, then so be it (especially if we get a "loan back")

Theyre still in the shit.

Looking to move in with the rugby union team.
