Members bolty58
Up in the remote areas of Australia's Pilbara region last week. Driving thousands of desolate miles between site visits, I often sing my bollocks off for two reasons - avoid nodding off and one place I can sing without my dulcet tones pissing off anyone within earshot. Usual stuff - plenty of Ska, Northern Soul, Bluebeat and general soul classics but I always end up going through the old Lever End repertoire and bringing a smile to my face whilst I am at it. Then it suddenly dawned on me - I had just sung two which I don't think we'd mentioned on any of the previous threads on the subject. One of them has a players name missing which is driving me mad so I am sure one of you fine WWayers will assist (unless the early/mid 60's stuff is way too early for you). Jingle bells, Stepney smells, Crerands on the booze, Nobby Stiles has got no hair And United always lose. The one driving me mad:- Goal they cried, Goal they cried, _ _ _ _ _ _'s playing on the half way line, Byroms looking mighty fine, Goal they cried, Goal they cried, Hokum, pokum, fuckin' well choke 'em, Goal they cried. Sure we have mentioned this one before but what the hell, There's a crack up in the ceiling, And the Stretford End is leaking, Georgie Best has got no money, He only plays because he's funny. What are we living for, To see United in Division Four I forget the rest.

Right My dad says we played in black shorts for quite a spell? Is this right, going off the song it would suggest so.
Take Hunt Off
officially always been royal blue shorts (apart from the 1971 all white fiasco) although in the late sixties early seventies they looked black & the scarfs then were in the main black & white. Still got one somewhere

Still got one somewhere Am I correct in thinking our great team of the late Allardyce era 2006 to 2008 played in all white? Thought we look much better but perhaps it was the calibre of players who made it looked good.

This season is the first since 1999 that we've had blue shorts and blue socks.
Burndens Bogs
I kinda liked that all white strip from the early 70's, we had that Real Madrid look . IIRC the scarves were white with two red stripes every now and again.
Take Hunt Off
yes it wasn't so much the all white strip more the f****n red & white scarfs even thought they were distinctly NOT Mancunian like they were STILL red & white.............experiment was terminated by Jimmy Armfield god bless him. Fellow former Lever End thug Nelli Elbows came to my rescue. It was driving me mad this was. How could I possibly forget this? It was Ian Seddon who introduced me to WWays! Yes, all of you recalcitrants. That is who you should blame
