tomski Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I think some people take far to much interest in other peoples business. Whoever it was who was upset kids were eating at Morrison's cafe on a Monday night needs to get out a bit more. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Haslet is minced heart, lungs etc. The 'lights' formed into sliceable meatloaf, they usually put lots of herbs in to detract the offaly flavours, it has had a resurgence lately as I think it's similar to a Polish dish, so the Poles buy it (I think). Its my job, I do get out a bit...this morning helping to treat over fed and malnourished kids brought up on junk food who present with a range of symptoms. Its bloody sad and yes it upsets me! Sweep Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 this is worse than the kids in morrisons. Buy him proper food you bastard! Fucking hell, you want to see some of the food he eats. Every weekend, Mrs Sweep does extra sausages and bacon and scrambled egg for our fry up, so the dog can have a nice breakfast as well. She bought a nice ham the other week and boiled it up....just for the dog, which he's been eating all week. She also did an extra lamb shank a few weeks ago for him. That dog eats better than some humans do usually. He always has stuff mixed in with his biscuits....he somehow has managed to knack to eat around the dry dog biscuits and just eat the "good stuff" Also, as an aside......Mrs CWP put some ginger nut biscuits in the trolley the other week, I asked why as we don;t tend to eat biscuits, apparently he likes one of these each evening before he goes to bed - she's fucking mental Quote

She bites the end then leaves the rest. The parents order smoked salmon from a particular smoke house in Scotland as the mutt prefers that. Oh and Serrano is better than Parma ham. Aye alright. jeep Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I've ate trotters, in a Columbian household, a bit ironic given the history of our town, after the initial squeamishness the meat wasn't bad, but a lot of arsing about and dissecting for little reward/yield, a bit like ribs or very bony fish. Brawn, my mam and dad used to buy it from Fraser's - so it probably had a doctorate, but I wasn't keen, I'd give it another go now though, in adulthood. It wasn't Brawn, it was Potted Meat. Trust me. Quote
stevieb Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I nearly bought some but stopped at the last minute. It was a close shave. Not lost on me pal! Haha Quote

Yes, you're right now I think about it, they used to buy sommat very similar to 'Tom's' potted meat though, and this was Brawn - market perhaps? As well as owd fashioned produce, Fraser's was a groundbreaker for stuff too, they were selling bake at home pizzas and stir-fry mix in the early 80s. Quote
jeep Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Early 90s for pizzas & stir fry. It was Dave's Potted Meat. This is like a history lesson for you tonight... Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) They might have been still selling them in the 90s, but they started in the 80s, as soon as, for me, when Bella Pizza opened (1988-89?) the ones from Tom Fraser's lost their appeal...My mam also used to buy stir fry well before the 90s from there - was probably the one and only time our family was ahead of the times. As for potted meat, it's probably been sold there as long as there's been a Butchers on the site. Edited March 3, 2016 by Youri McAnespie Quote
