Site Supporter Ratwhite Posted November 4, 2015 Site Supporter Posted November 4, 2015 wasn't sure where to stick this (some will say up my arse), but here goes. Surely got to start with two up top Saturday and give Woolery a run? Definition of insanity etc.. Quote
Moderators Horwich Posted November 4, 2015 Moderators Posted November 4, 2015 Have you ever seen him play? Quote
Guest Blixa Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 It'll be talk of the Iranian teenager next. Quote
L/H White Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) what about starting the kid who scores 6 a game for the dev squad? Edited November 4, 2015 by L/H White Quote
Anderson Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 It seems to be a contentious issue on here with some but at this point why not? Not sure Woolery is the answer for goals but he could offer something on the wings. The only argument I've seen against Jamie Thomas is he's not got enough of a well rounded game for Lennon, who gives a shit!? We need goals and he has that knack and the confidence to get them. Give him 5 games, if it works then happy days we've got another young player we've developed further increasing our asset value and making us better, if not then ah well at least we tried something. Quote
Moderators Carlos Posted November 4, 2015 Moderators Posted November 4, 2015 And we've gone 5 more games without scoring, a youngster ruined, senior pros who've been on the bench also pissed off (and no longer match fit), oh and seriously been cut adrift. Brilliant. Quote
whiteboy Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Don't think he touched it last night. Did get a couple of Vaz Te/Bambi style slips in though Quote
jules_darby Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 There's a young Newcastle player - Adam Armstrong. Scored 13 for Cov on loan this season...I have it on good authority it was a done deal with us on loan and we pulled out last minute. He thought he was coming.... He's supposed to be excellent too Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 4, 2015 Site Supporter Posted November 4, 2015 And we've gone 5 more games without scoring, a youngster ruined, senior pros who've been on the bench also pissed off (and no longer match fit), oh and seriously been cut adrift. Brilliant. There must come a point though at which you must try something. It might work no one can truly say what the outcome will be until it's tried. As for the senior players, they seem to be pissed off already and aren't justifying their place. Youngsters might also get pissed off when they can't get a go in a failing team. Ultimately youngsters are there for a reason and you can't wrap them in cotton wool for ever. Quote
Eavesy Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 The question is which is going to ruin a youngster more? Not playing them and saving them from the baying masses. Or playing them for 5 matches and them getting booed off the park by 240 Bolton fans on a Tuesday night? Quote
Kill Cricket Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 And we've gone 5 more games without scoring, a youngster ruined, senior pros who've been on the bench also pissed off (and no longer match fit), oh and seriously been cut adrift. Brilliant. As opposed to going 5 more games without scoring, youngsters pissed off because they have no chance of a game despite how badly senior players are playing, senior players chopped and changed from bench to starting line-up and back also pissed off. Oh, and been seriously cut adrift. Brilliant. How do youngsters get ruined, by the way? Without descending into the perverse.... Or do we just mollycoddle them and protect them from the real world until they're no longer youngsters, and are thus unable to cope with it as adults. Anyway, whatever we do, it'll be wrong. Unless we start winning, then it'll be right. Regardless of whether the actions had any result on the outcome. Quote
Ani Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 All this talk about strikers...early season Madine missed some chances but recently we have created nothing Quote

bolton va va Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Wilkinson was thought to be ahead of Woolery, Thomas or the Iranian, & got a few games last season where he was shown to be out of his depth & swiftly had the boo boys on his back. The judgement on whether youngsters are ready - either physically or in ability - must be left with the people who work with them day in - day out. Quote
Site Supporter Ratwhite Posted November 4, 2015 Author Site Supporter Posted November 4, 2015 Have you ever seen him play? NL obviously has and sat him on the bench to watch the mules up front hitting a glorious big fat NIL again last night. Can't be any worse giving the lad a start Saturday Quote

EyesRight Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Woollery is the best option IMO, seen him play a few times at Leyland and pre season. Physical, quick, will run the channels and will potentially create something for himself. Thomas is a right place, right time but if we aren't creating anything it's pointless to have a poacher on the field. Not seen the Iranian lad play but I suspect he's too young. Quote
jagermoot Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Lennon might not want to throw them in at the deep end being so young. Could have an incident like at west ham when sam played all them kids and they got stomped a new bum hole. Could do more harm than good. Quote
jagermoot Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I personally would play 451 with madine up front just to hold the ball up for either clayton and davies (if cant wait 3 months maybe pratley) have spearing or vela as the cm and pick your wingers and a settled back 4. Almost like the old xmas tree formation. Quote
MancWanderer Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I'd certainly give a couple of the young 'uns a go Put the same sort of team out that we have in the last couple of games and we'll get the same results. It's not working. Put them in now. If they fail folk are more likely to have a go at the senior pros not them. If they have lumps kicked out of them then, hey, welcome to the first team. Sticking them in, and them failing, and the team losing when we are on a promotion charge, might have a bad effect on them but have they or Lennon really got anything to lose by sticking them in now? Quote
Walkden26 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Speaking of Vaz Te, still not signed for anyone. Thought he had found his feet at this level at least. Wonder if he is being a billy big bollocks and refuses to lower himself? If he was willing to sign for us would you have him? I certainly would. Quote
Dr Faustus Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 See, I think Tom Walker got loads of undue jip; granted I only saw one sublime cross, and a couple of half decent efforts, but the lad got dogs abuse from some fucktards; that was with fuck all to play for. I would love to see youth blooded, not only as a fan, but as a father with a son being courted by pre-academies... You have to trust the system in place, and ultimately the first team manager to make that call. Both physical and mental fitness needs to be considered, and frankly NL can't be accused of shying away from that. Anyhoots, lets not mince it; 4-4-fucking 2 Or some variant of- play wide people wide, play someone quicker off a lump; the dynamics I'll leave to the pros. I'll have a beer, a singsong, and throw my considerable weight behind all those in white, whoever and however they be. Quote
Moderators Casino Posted November 4, 2015 Moderators Posted November 4, 2015 talking about the 'kids' lennon came in, talked em up didnt last long, did it Quote
jules_darby Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) talking about the 'kids' lennon came in, talked em up didnt last long, did it Aye, but If we were playing them and getting these results folk would be saying they aren't ready / up for it Whatever NL does, if we get the results it's right; if not, it's not. (And rightly so really) It's like the changing of players and systems all the time....if we are losing he can't win - he's a tinkerman; if we lose and he keeps the same players / system, we get the "definition of insanity" quote the lesson? Just get the fucking results and we won't give a shit how Edited November 4, 2015 by jules_darby Quote
Moderators Casino Posted November 4, 2015 Moderators Posted November 4, 2015 exactly one thing this should have done is got everybodys mind on where we are at nobody should now be pining for 'good' footall its dogs of war and points any which way Quote
