Administration?

Yeah, let's all suddenly start believing what The Sun says. They even attributed Trevor Birch's comments to Eddie Davies at the end of the article...

Didn't realise it was a Nixon article.

Surely this doesn't deserve it's own thread?

It doesn't

But it's a good a place as any to ask the following question

If we go into admin we'll get nowhere near market value for owt we can sell

I'd like mounts to explain why he thinks Davies would be happy to allow us to go into admin IF he has the spare cash Mounts seems to think he has

Regardless of him being a fan or not, surely as a business wed have been better selling stuff for nearer what they're worth

We may as well have taken control off selling off bits over the last 18 months

Fwiw I still think there's some very surprising twists in this story

No one can prove if ED has the spare cash due to the complexity and secrecy of his finances, therefore you have to go on the little we glean from the clubs accounts and we know he's taken interest on the debt for a good few years and also taken some money out of the few profitable transfer deals. Therefore my gut instinct is that he's not down to his last few million, the signings we made pre-season while not costing a great amount in fees will cost a decent amount in wages, why did he sanction these deals if we were already losing 1 million a month? It does not make any sense. The club say we are losing 1 million a month, how can that be? The wage bill is reportedly 16 million, we receive 8 million parachute payment, 5.5 for the car park and 1.75 for the Ream sale and 500 k for LCY plus money of between 3-4 million are we really to believe that the running of the club costs around 28 million per year? I'm hoping the statement regarding the administration is just a tactic to get potential investors to front up the money sooner rather than later.

iwhat i do agree with, is that none of us have a clue

but i do think you're missing something

aye, we sold the car park - it was to cover monies we had to find for payments due, not to put in the bank

ream and lee - 2 different seasons

you cant just add up everything that has come in and add them all together without looking at what goes out

why do you think we had to borrow from the 'loan sharks'

if you want to add transfer ins from two different seasons, you'll need to have two lots of wages

two lots of loan fees

two lots of agents fees

he may as well have been selling them off for a couple of years

we're in a mess

and you still havent told me why eddie davies would let the club go into admin if he felt able to avoid it

tell me, whats in it for him

its not like we have no assets

Administration is a possibility it's been mentioned by those close to the club it's not for me to answer the question but safe to say it's being considered and I have my own theory as why it could well be a possibility. And if Eddies not paying folk that's where it will lead.

i think theyre worth a lot less in administration

thats as much as i know

don't tell me you think hes going to buy them back from the administrator

please don't tell me that

Why would he do that? If he's losing the million a month he said were losing the only way to stop that is bump the club, he's tried to sell as a going concern and it's not happened, of the assets do any make any real money? The answer is a resounding no, he has the land at Euxton that could be worth a few million but that soon would go if we're losing the 1 million a month. The hotels runs at a break even at best, the academy is green belt can't sell that, the ground be worth a few bob flattened for retail but is that really going to be allowed to happen. Therefore the assets would quickly be used up propping the loss making football club, he could be thinking better baling out now to stop personal losses. He's created the problem himself it didn't need to end like this.

well at least we're on the same page with one thing, some of the assets aren't worth much

the land that the ground is on could be worth many millions

i dunno the costs of dropping the ground but if its 5 million for a car park and theres demand, who knows

cant see any of that being the case

anyway, eddie davies is saying that a club he took on with 60 million debt is now available debt free

and he hasn't had 60 million out of it

so, i really dont see how hes the bad guy

maybe he was just too ambitious

The land the ground is built in is the jewel in the crown, a bit part of car park was sold for 5.5 million and I'm sure that this will have retail property built on it so the rest of the land is very saleable for retail development. The club might get a better return from the stadium by sacking the office space and hotel space and approaching M&S and John Lewis to use as a retail superstore at either end of the stadium on a rental basis at least that would give steady income if it was logistically possible. There's some property play available, I'm sure. Isn't Holdsworth teamed up with a property developer?

Reading sold out to some Thais for a property play.

That's all that would get an outside investor to put money into a Championship club.

Most are financial basket cases.
