Liked nothing more than cracking a few heads with their truncheons! A few greens and malcontents would be easy meat. Were they founded by James Anderton of "swirling in a human cesspit of their own making" fame? I once had to referee a complete GMP 5-a-side knockout comp in Horwich and the SPG won it. More than a few psycho's amongst that lot. Mr. Anderton gave out all the prizes and made a fuss of my heavily pregnant missus so it must have been early '83. Before anyone asks, my next door neighbour was a rozzer and my indoor football exploits were known to him which is how I got roped in. Turned out to be well paid too.
