Didn’t know about this. Just signed - number now at 212,036 https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no-2nd-state-visit-for-donald-trump Trumps comments tonight on Ukraine/Zelensky were as shameful as they were expected. Hopefully this petition will reach eye watering numbers. He really is loathed. Quote

I find it stranger that anyone would want to welcome Trump with a second state visit. I’m assuming you’re all for it so if you want to humour me would love to know on what basis you think this is deserved. I accept this might be a short list. Quote

If the king wants to welcome the president of America then so be it, sad individuals thinking some petition will stop that from happening is where the humour is. Quote

Do you really think he wants to 😂😂. Sadly he knows he has to pander to the orange buffoon, as per our government has to, purely for British trade/jobs. You can bet your life every single person he meets will be thinking “what a repulsive knob”…. or similar. Edited April 23 by Bertie Quote

Their virtue signalling self satisfaction will be orgasmic. Edited April 23 by bolty58 Quote

Although you may be right, Charles will have met many a person with arguably much more of a dodgy background and personality. Have you ever signed a petition or raised an objection previously to any such visit? Therein is the basis for criticism for the anti-Trump movement. Inconsistent application of moral outrage etc. I don't like the fella one bit, I'm no fan of Starmer, but this is soft power being used by the British government and monarchy, to our benefit. No one needs to go and wave an American flag along his travel route, just crack on with their every day activities. They're trying to agree a new trade system, which isn't an easy task, so if a visit helps smooth the waters for such a deal, then bring it on. Quote

Yes, whoever was king/queen/PM would have to stomach this as you say, for the right reasons. Contrary to the opinions many on here may have of me imho I’m very much “live and let live”, and tolerate most of not all viewpoints/politics etc. I love the USA and have many friends there. I’m not a bedsheet protester (even against the Andersons)……but Trump pushes all my buttons. So, I’ve only even signed 2 political-type petitions in 56 years. This one and the one against his first visit. I’m thinking it might be him then, not me. Quote
kent_white Posted April 24 Posted April 24 If we had any sort of balls as a country - he'd be nowhere near a state visit. Sadly those days are now long gone and we're at the stage of prostituting ourselves to this bell end - because we've no choice after leaving the EU. I've not signed it by the way. Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted April 24 Posted April 24 There'd still be a state visit if we were in the EU Quote
