I think it just made him stick out a bit and probably not massively appropriate which is why he's getting some flack. But yes there was a dress code. Quote
Bertie Posted April 27 Posted April 27 1 hour ago, royal white said: Sorry I thought we were talking about the dress of world leaders at the popes funeral. Let’s talk about the seating arrangement then. Do you really think he demanded to be sat there like the Daily beast has suggested. This Daily Mirror article suggests that originally seating was going to be done royalty first, so Trump would have been a few rows back. They then switched to the use of French (language of international diplomacy) so the US got bumped to the front row and a diplomatic crisis was avoided. I’m sure they would have found a way somehow (eg number of McDonald’s, gun-related homicides etc) https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/donald-trump-bags-unexpected-front-35123037?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target Quote

BobyBrno Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Pope Francis specifically asked for a simplified funeral. I doubt he would have cared what people wore. As usual, the easily offended are offended by things they nothing about. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I find it amazing how exercised people are getting over the attendees at a funeral. All this talk of seating arrangements, clothes, meetings; kinell- the bloke's dead. I'm not a religious person, and the event is only sad and solemn in the same way as anyone's passing would be. That said, I still consider it with reverence, and bitching about mourners is just sad. Quote

Regardless of what others think his MAGA supporters seem to be lapping it up - so far. Of all the things you can lay at Trump you can’t deny he’s doing what he said (at home anyway). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c807d4n0npeo Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I suppose the counter to that is that it was requested mourners wear black and that request was not respected But Trump was far from the only one Quote

Biden deported more but then again there were more border crossings during his presidency as there was a laxer attitude to border security But neither deported as harshly or with the same lack of judicial oversight Quote
