So his suit, like Bidens and Prince William’s was fine. Thanks god for that.

I think it just made him stick out a bit and probably not massively appropriate which is why he's getting some flack.

But yes there was a dress code.

Sorry I thought we were talking about the dress of world leaders at the popes funeral. Let’s talk about the seating arrangement then. Do you really think he demanded to be sat there like the Daily beast has suggested.

This Daily Mirror article suggests that originally seating was going to be done royalty first, so Trump would have been a few rows back.  They then switched to the use of French (language of international diplomacy) so the US got bumped to the front row and a diplomatic crisis was avoided.  I’m sure they would have found a way somehow (eg number of McDonald’s, gun-related homicides etc)

Day 100 and whatever

Bombs still falling in Ukraine.

Hes played about 100 rounds of golf.

He’s laughing at his followers

They still love him, and always will. It's a cult.

Pope Francis specifically asked for a simplified funeral. I doubt he would have cared what people wore. As usual, the easily offended are offended by things they nothing about.

But what about what the daily Beast and Daily Mirror said  🙄

I find it amazing how exercised people are getting over the attendees at a funeral.

All this talk of seating arrangements, clothes, meetings; kinell- the bloke's dead.

I'm not a religious person, and the event is only sad and solemn in the same way as anyone's passing would be.

That said, I still consider it with reverence, and bitching about mourners is just sad.

Aye

It's all just a load of bollocks

None of those in attendance give the pope a second thought most days

Or even a thought

To be fair, he is doing quite a lot of things his base voted him in to do

Mass deportations, crackdowns on DEI, huge (and unnecessarily broad) cuts to government spending, releasing the JFK files, reciprocal tariffs (whatever the merits of doing so), going after the "deep state"

He's not negotiated a ceasefire to the Ukraine-Russia war but all his supporters really give a fuck about there is that they stop funding it, which is currently looking likely

That’s just an opinion, not a fact.
To give some context about the Pope’s own wishes about his funeral, see below.

Agreed.  Regardless of what others think his MAGA supporters seem to be lapping it up - so far. Of all the things you can lay at Trump you can’t deny he’s doing what he said (at home anyway).

I suppose the counter to that is that it was requested mourners wear black and that request was not respected

But Trump was far from the only one

They weren’t requested to wear a black suit

Sorry I’m just going off what he said he’d do.

Which he hasn’t.

as for deportations, I understand Obama deported more than any president in history but that rarely gets a mention.

Of course it's my opinion

But I do think most people who go to most funerals do so because they actually care about the person being buried

I think most people at this funeral are there out of obligation

Dress codes and seating arrangements bollocks

Over 250,000 went to the funeral. Millions watched on TV. You said most went out of obligation. As a simple percentage, how many?

Biden deported more but then again there were more border crossings during his presidency as there was a laxer attitude to border security

But neither deported as harshly or with the same lack of judicial oversight

In fairness, I doubt Biden had much say in it.

Or clue.

I was on about the world leaders going out of obligation

As for the rest

Each to their own

Why would you go to the funeral of someone you have never met
