nottinghamtrotter Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Just back. Jesus wept. As mentioned in another thread 4-0 Scarborough in the dark days springs to mind, but to that add 1-4 Bristol City at home, 0-3 Darlington etc etc. Is it worse now.........has to be as back then that shower were at least local lads, paid about fifty quid a week and drove ladas. Many of today's crop have quality hidden away, are paid 10-20k a week, and can splash out on mercs as the club heads to oblivion. After the drive home come to conclusion that not angry, not frustrated just disappointed and so fckin sad at what the powers that be have done to our club. Quote
Casino Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Blaming the powers that be gives these spineless bastards a way out A way out they don't deserve Quote
xxxxxx Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Of course we're more shit now. We have like 1 win in 28 games.... and Lennon's record since January has been truly awful. We can't keep bringing up the lack of money, because even Rotherham managed to get a great performance out of their players today. When was the last time we managed a good win like that? Quote
Spider Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) This is as bad as anything I've seen in 27 years watching them. The rot is there from bottom to top. Back in the 80's, there were at least a few tryers in the team who you felt were suffering with us. Now, the whole club feels more like a TV show you used to love that has replaced all the main characters and scriptwriters with paint by numbers fly by night chancers. Leyther_Matt Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 When was the last time we managed a good win like that? A year ago today against t'Roverrrrs, oddly enough. Quote
miamiwhite Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) The last time we were relegated from this division, it wasn't until the final day of the 1982/83 season. This shower of cunts pulling on our beloved shirts will have us down before March. Edited December 26, 2015 by miamiwhite Quote
Sweep Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Are we not only a decent striker away from being mid-table anymore? Quote

Marc505 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I've been brought up on a diet of "it was miles worse in the 80's" by one of the blokes I go to home games with. Even he's knocked saying that on the head now. Quote
Traf Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 It wasn't any worse in the 80's. The similarities are astounding, though. Quote
C86 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 It wasn't any worse in the 80's. The similarities are astounding, though. Very true. The big difference compared to the 80's is there's a lot more you can be doing on a saturday than watching a shite team. I can say to the lad, "fancy macron or fly to Malaga* for a game this weekend". I know its a little unfair to compare now to the 80's but that's where we are at. * Malaga, Madrid, Rome, Prague, Dortmund, Amsterdam etc etc Quote

bolton va va Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 The players & team were much worse in the 80's & non league players could step straight into the side... Caldwell, Oghani, Came & others, you could practically see yourself in the team they were that bad. I still think that with a competent manager this current squad have a team in it that should have been good enough to stay up in the 2nd tier....nowhere near the play offs but not 8 points adrift from safety. What is worse though is off the pitch. Burnden was a dump but we had an emotional attachment to it & it was a home we were willing to defend....nobody gives a toss about the Macron. Also, same as now, plenty who weren't up for the fight disappeared, but once they were gone they were gone, unlike now that they have platforms to carry on moaning loudly. So far the fans at the games have been really good, but you can sense that it's not going to take much to open up divisions & the infighting to start again.....& that is completely different to last time, when those who stayed with the club were all together, almost psychotically loyal to Bolton & often willing to fight for them. The football was shite but because of the cameraderie of the hardcore fans it was still a great time to be a Wanderers' fan. Another difference of course is that we didn't have the fresh memories of all the fantastic times we have recently had thanks to Mr Davies. The fall didn't seem as bad. Quote
Guest Blixa Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Worse in the 80s, but the money being thrown around wasn't a patch on today. You could sink in the 80s and rise up with a decent manager, a few shrewd signings and the odd youth player coming through. These days it takes a bit of an outlay go just keep your head above water in League One. And if you get a good player, his agent will have him away in no time. It's no level playing field these days, which is why it's vital we don't drop too far. Quote
Horwich Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Who is to blame then??? Board appointed last 3 managers No one had many bad words about em Those managers signed the players Football is all about luck.. Right place, right time.. We are out of luck Quote
snowball Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Might have been a worse team in the 80's but felt more affinity with them than this shower of overpaid wankers. Quote

captainmed Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 It's difficult to blame anyone apart from the 11 wankers on the pitch. I had numerous conversations last night with Rotherham lads and virtually all of them said they would swap our 11 for theirs. Difference is, they showed passion and effort. We have no mental strength. Basically cowardly fuckers. Only pratley (who dragged 4 others) came over at the end. Worse than the 80's. Those players weren't very good. These are, but don't care. That's a fucking crime. Quote
Ratwhite Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Once we hit rock bottom, gotta be soon Shirley.? Think of the return journey (Wrexham, Halifax all over again) Quote

That's a fucking crime. Definitely. If this was a fame of Championship Manager we would be looking at getting in a decent striker to make a go of this division. Something is very wrong. The manager hasn't got the respect of the team. The team don't believe the club has a future. They all see their futures elsewhere, either sooner or at the end of the season. Either way it needs bringing to a head. Quote
Spider Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 If you were a player, and you knew you might be looking for a new job soon, how many 50/50's would you be going in for? No manager on earth could pick a winning team of players that are trying to avoid injuries. This is down to mismanagement off the field. Quote
