  • Ah, those lads who wanted their country back , upset by foreigners who came over on boats pinching  all the houses and land and changing the native culture and not assimilating into it.  thought you

  • Benedict Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, he's not even a proper bummer.

  • Not quite a show… but the missus has fallen asleep mid program; I do it all the time, just watch on… she doesn’t agree. She’s now fallen asleep 3 times during last 10 mins of episode of Outlaws.

S1 was good. Enjoyed it. Hard going but worth it. On to S2

Can't quite recall now mate but think 2 was OK and 3 a bit weak. 4 was better again but it seems I am in a small group of 'likers' for that one!

Folk on here who’ve watched it and folk I know away from here as well. Everyone has a different opinion on each series as to which one is good and which one is bad. Will plough on through…

Not sure how long it’s been available but Evacuation on ch 4 is a very good watch. Speaks to the lads and lasses involved in the evacuation at Kabul airport. Very hard hitting at times.

I've never waited in anticipation for Coronation St more.

There's something about slimline airfrier meals on now.

You ned to do the New Blood one

You were right about that, glad I didn't just leave it.

Done the first 4 of Constellation as well and enjoying that, can see all the jumping putting a few people off though.

Red Right Hand with Orlando Bloom in it on Sky is excellent (it’s a film but it’s on telly so whatever).

Bit of a basic plot but well made and moves along at a good pace.

4.5/5

Zone of Interest = fucking horse shit

Under The Banner Of Heaven. Think Micky D mentioned it elsewhere? Starting that tonight.

Finished series 2 of Trigger Point last night. Good end to the villains but the end to the episode/series was a bit wank.

Would have been one of the other lads then. Somewhere in the football part.

Agreed. It’s almost as good as Band Of Brothers

I'm enjoying it - never watch BoB or Pacific, but enjoying this. Although few things stick in the craw so far though, such as the defending of the decision of the American Airforce to continue to use daytime raids, when it was proved the accuracy wasn't much different from the RAF's nighttime raids (almost to sort of make them the super good guys who would never have done anything as mean as Dresden unless the Brits where pushing for it) and the wildly overestimated use of the Norden bombsite which meant many thousands of men probably died when they didn't need to (which the programme says was one of the biggest technological advances of the war, which was more marketing that fact) and the biggest change wasn't bombers but the range of the Mustang (which the programme says was the most sophificated plane ever at that time) when it didn't match the Spitfire on many fronts but did have a longer range so could cover the sitting ducks of those bombers. I blame my Imperial War Museum membership for runining these parts for me 😁

Anyway, other than the American's being the only superheroes, and doing all the work with all the best stuff that they invented, and that terrible opening music, its a very good watch. Might try with BoB now.

Finally got round to watching the second series of the Lazarus Project. Really quite good.

Whoever it was, the series is reminiscent of Going Clear in many was (the scientology documentary) although this one has been dramatised.

I question the sanity of anyone religious but the whack jobs who follow Mormonism, Scientology etc. must be utterly deranged. I always come back to "Xenu, the dictator of a confederacy of 76 planets". Wouldn't you think that, after spending thousands (if not millions) of dollars getting across all of the scientology bridges, being let in on this 'momentous' secret and knowing that there are bad spirits out there Xenu had dropped into volcanoes on Earth (where they now roam with evil intent) from spaceships remarkably similar to De Havilland DH106 Comet 1950's aeroplanes, the penny might drop and you'd realise you'd been had? Why do some continue? They have invested so much money that they can't back out for shame reasons?

They do seem to get an anti British dig in at every opportunity.

Even passed off the Great Escape as a just going to cause them a bit of inconvenience.

I mentioned it previously.

Finished it last night.

Never more pertinent a program- and based on true events- for this current time.

Religious fundamentalism, extremism, whatever you want to call it, is one nasty evil.

My dad was in the RAF in WW2. On the Hudson bombers squadron out of Gibraltar that were dropping depth charges on the U-boats based on the Bay of Biscay

When he retired he did a degree in European History and Politics at Salford Uni. His thesis was The Dresden Bombings. Made grim reading. Not this country’s finest hour

Cheers mate. I knew someone had.

Yes, I find myself steering well away from folk I find out are either 'religious' or 'devout'.

People who won't let their children have blood transfusions to save their lives; won't have anything to do with their son ever again because he married a protestant (good mate of mine over here); would strap a bomb to their back and intentionally blow up innocent youngsters at a pop concert. Subhuman IMO.

The Gentleman

has just popped up on my box

Anyone give it a Go yet ???

The Film was good 9/10

The Guy Ritchie film? It’s great. Hugh Grant steals the show.😊

I recently found out the depth of "faith" of some friends of ours. I knew they were church goers, but I was rocked a bit by some of the sentiment and comments.

No where near fundamentalism fortunately, just a bit odd. It was just the depth of feeling that surprised me.

It's an illness.

The Signal on Netflix. Enjoyed it

Shogun. Early days yet but seems superb. Get on it.

Just watched 20 days in Mariupol on channel 4, that was a very difficult watch, grim as hell.
