Mantra
Midfield depth is MJ, Morley, Lee, Thomason, Darcy. 3 seniors and two young. Could do with one more senior in case one of the seniors get injured. Obviously Dapo, Xav, Delf, Kachunga could play in the '10 role', but just thinking about players that can play central/holding midfield. If Dempsey is added we'll be well covered. But how many would cope if we got a division higher ?

MJ Williams Morley then Lee (fit one week, injured the next) Thomasson (not yet capable of being relied on at this level, might never be) Tutte (long-term injury) I agree, while MJ & Lee are ok, they ain’t brilliant either, I’d hope Morley and Dempsey are an upgrade and obviously right age. Take Hunt Off
The Gillingham chairman Scally has stated that he expects to see ‘a couple in & a couple out ‘ by Monday. Lets hope Dempsey is one of them , joining us.

Deanu
Dempsey can just fuck them off when they go down anyway, not that we'd get him on a free at that point but in his perspective he's most likely get some very lucrative contracts thrown his way if no fee has to be paid. Wrexham got bored of waiting to sign Olivier off them so got Palmer instead, Evatt looks all in on him because we'd get leadership & traits you may not get in a young loan player. Looks like it's going to be a deadline day saga of a deal which won't get done but you'd expect us to have a few alternatives even if they're short term ones till the summer. I think in principal the deal will already be sounded out and agreed with Dempsey, it’ll just be delayed because of the manager situation. Just a bit of patience required here. Just a bit of patience required here. Doubt it’s even the manager situation, it’s not like they’re going to get a new one in and suddenly it makes sense to keep him and let him leave on a free. I’d imagine it’s a combination of keeping him to play the most games possible before they sell, therefore contributing to as many points as possible, and also using the time to see if any better bids come in. He’ll come to us, because it makes sense to all parties, they’ve just been a bit clever (unless he’d have got an injury and then it wouldn’t have been too clever) in doing the deal. Deanu
Linked to Yan Dhanda from Swansea which would be a loan, technical playmaker similar mould to Dan Crowley who most people wanted us to sign. He's ex liverpool academy so he would have had Johnston as his captain for a good couple of years, according to Sky he has a good few options so it's probably one that will pop up on deadline day. Hmm. Doesn't sound like an alternative to Dempsey, who himself says he is a box to box player.
TrickyTrotter
Dhanda is out of contract in the summer, so a loan would fit our modus operandi. 23 and played 50 games at Championship level. But if it's additional to Dempsey does not make a lot of sense. I'd rather the second signing was an upgrade in the centre of our defence. If he’s playmaker type and we sign him then Sheehan might be surplus if he gets back to fitness.
