Declan John was mr Reluable last year, know Evatt said he's been ill and a few knocks.

All for having some young players from premiership teams etc, but we need to build our squad and its not partucular a weak position with Iredale and John going for places.

Can’t remember coming away from many games thinking Declan John has let us down.

Iredale has done well but not significantly better than John.

Seems a strange move unless John’s injury is serious or we have a very good offer in for him.

Having 3 left backs suits no one. No consistency in defence. 1 or 2 of them pissed off not getting the main matches. Reliant on staying in papa johns to keep em fit

Not a Declan John fan. ok going forward , poor defensively. Having said that im sure we should have been looking at cover for Williams, which we dont have, and a decent keeper, as priority. A bit baffling really. Im sure Evatt will explain this in good time.

I thought we had a promising youngster of our own in Conway who could step in in Johns injured or departing. This kid hasn’t really played any first team football, just a couple of Papa Johns and couldn’t even cut it in a lowly Portuguese side, so can’t see him going straight into the first team still, IE got it spot on with Bradley so let’s hope he’s pulled another rabbit out of the hat with this lad?

For what it's worth, the Portuguese club he signed for play in the Portuguese top flight.

I'll be surprised if he hasn't signed to be first choice, to be honest.

Like many I don’t see the need unless Iredale is earmarked for the position a lot of us assumed he’d been brought in for. Harsh in Johnstone to be honest as he has started the season ok but is prone to a bad bit of defending

wouldn’t make any sense for John to be going. We’ve worked hard to get a solid nucleus on perm contracts. To get rid of one to replace with a loan goes against against what we’re trying to do.

there were definitely 2 maybe 3 areas we needed reinforcements ahead of LWB

I think this is all about focusing Iredale on the three central defensive roles and having two left-wing backs to allow that to happen. I thought we needed two new central defensive signings right back in May and with Iredale now able to focus on that role we have them. The announcement of the signing on the BW website specifically references Iredale playing centrally.

For me the big thing we want now is holding midfield competition for MJ. I'd love us to sign another striker, loan out Kachunga and bring in a new reserve keeper. Can't see all that occurring though!

I don’t understand that signing we don’t need 3 LWB unless John is injured or leaving. We need a defensive midfielder unless Iredale is the back up as he as played that position a few times in his career.

Was John linked with Wrexham earlier in the window ???

Good mate of mine who’s a ST holder at Anfield and goes watching their junior teams reckons Beck is a great prospect but has reached his limit at that level. Needs proper first team time. Word is our facilities, coaching and opportunities are seen as top notch which is great. Downside is we sharpen them up for the scousers to then sell them on to someone else. Be nice if we got first dibs at a decent price. But the reality……

Definitely have the same concern as above about loanees vs permanent contracts in the first team squad

John, probably is off to wrexham, especially if he wants to play every week

Shame if he goes

Aye

Was on the bench Saturday

Can't imagine he got a serious injury Sunday-Tuesday that led to this last minute deal, not without hearing about said injury

So long as I get first dibs on Beck I won't be too fussed

I’d like to think they consult you in a godfather type style on these matters.
