Dr. Feelgood Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Interesting how, inside a week, almost everyone is writing Santos off. I'm a critic of him tbh but this sweep-out seems dramatic. Quote
radcliffe white Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Some have aired concerns on santos since day one, far too much smoke blown up his arse Quote

More than good enough at RCB, worked really well with Bradley in that position last year. Done his best on left but not his favoured place, also had weaker wing backs in front of him Quote

Eddie Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Personally think Toal’s best position is in the middle of the 3 (although I do think he needs to bulk up a bit). He’s also a big talker on the pitch which I think is key for your central defender. I’d prefer to see Santos with us next season, but I do think it’s the last chance we’ll have to cash in for anything half decent so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go (and makes the change of captain easier - if you think that’s important, which I do). If that was the case then I think a back 3 of Forester/Jones, Toal, Johnston would be good enough. Albeit that is purely on paper and considering each of them individually, there’d be big questions about how well Johnston comes back and whether Forester is ready to be a starter - plus whether they can play together. Wouldnt mind seeing an older more experienced head added to the mix as well to give a different option. Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Assuming Johnston's fit to start, I'd be okay with that Quote
Jol_BWFC Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) As pointed out above, he can be 10/10 or 5/10. If we can find a way to get him to be consistent, I’m very much in the keep him camp. We need a better LWB, but with the back line below, we’re more than good enough to keep the clean sheets we need to get out of this division. Defences win titles. Baxter Toal Santos Johnston JDC (or Jones) LWB Edited May 25, 2024 by Jol_BWFC Quote

He's losing his pace and he's not a good defender. Quote

He’s not losing pace at 28 he’s had virtual season playing out of position, much better at right wing back, he’s more than adequate as a right wingback at this level. Quote

Zog1 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 4 at the back for me Jones/Dacres-Cogley, Santos/Forrester, Johnson/Toal, Williams/Iredale Plenty of cover and more than good enough for League 1. Quote

tomski Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Sounds like Trafford is gonna get a decent move. Linked with Chelsea and Newcastle. Laughable that some suggested he should of gone to the championship. Not sure if it will have a knock on but I’m worried we will lose Baxter Quote
radcliffe white Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Didn’t have the best defence in front of him but he looked lost at times Quote

The Burnley defence was at 6s & 7s all the time even after Traf was dropped his replacement was making even worse howlers Quote
