Texted a Burnley mate , asked him what he was like . He said he scored at Rovers therefore Legend and nothing else.

Bless 'em. You have to remember they are currently arguing about whether they should sign this player for £5 million or that player for £14 million so they're shopping in a different league from us these days.

Seen you all over the BEN comments section as well this week.

You've too much time on your hands or is I've too much time on my hands. 😁

How very true. Enjoy the craic though. 🫣

Burnley fans and others may not rate him but CJ showed last season that there is a motivator/mentor role for an older player in the squad. Personally I thought he made a great contribution when he was asked to play.

He's moved on to a Turkish team which leaves a role for someone like Arfield.

Remember, Arfield only made 6 starts for Charlotteville but was used as a sub loads of times, so I wouldn't be expecting him to start every game for us.

Sad but true but it’s still worth the occasional visit to wind Sluffy up. 😁

Reckon he's quite happily getting wound up arguing with himself in an empty room. Existence winds him up. No it doesn't. Yes it does. No it doesn't etc ad nauseam.......

I also asked one, got a bit more: "good team player both going forward and helping defensively, always put in a shift. Put the ball in the bastard's net and that always helps"

CJ was last season's exoerienced mentor/motivator brought in to do a specific job on and off the pitch. With Arfield only making 6 starts in the MLS and being primarily used as a sub when the game required, it wouldn't surprise me if that is his job here.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was made captain.

If you actually buy this idea that your captain can do much to change stuff, he needs to be on the pitch, surely?

Is there still such a thing as club captain and an onfield captain?

From what mr evatt said a couple weeks ago about captaincy I am taking that as there is going to be a change.

Not looking for the quote but it was in the answers about whether Santos would be staying or going.     Mr evatt was very sketchy about captaincy and this would be discussed in the coming weeks.

Presumably that role will go to someone that's a "guaranteed starter", not to mention someone that's likely to be here longer than 10 months.

So if he's made captain its a big statement, I still expect it to be Santos and when he passes on the baton I can only see it going to Tomo of the existing squad (and assuming IE still here).

So he’s realised that santos isn’t a leader. No problem there. Let him concentrate on playing

Oh well. The quote would be nice, as your interpretation could be wildly inaccurate.

Great signing , has an allardyce feel to it. Sounds like a good character to.

Tickled pink with this signing. Just the kind of player we need.

This isn’t quite the case.

Santos wants to focus on impacting the team without the pressure of captaincy. It’s a role that adds little value but, in the case of Santos, has added a weight of pressure that he can do without. You could argue that means he’s not a leader. And you’re probably right. But Evatt hasn’t ‘realised’ it. It’s the outcome of a professional conversation.

I mentioned a few weeks ago, you’ll likely find they use different captains on the pitch this season, with Toal and Thomason at the top of that list.

Arfield is very much in the Jerome mould in terms of playing time.

It’s true, but what’s the relevance of this to Aaron Morley?
