but for whatever reason Critchly wouldn't give him proper game time.

...and neither did a string of previous managers so you have to suspect there is some kind of issue with him and I think that it's because he is too lightweight and easily knocked off the ball as discussed above. Sure as hell looks good and that's why fans love him - but wanting him to do consistently well isn't enough in a results business. Surely if we can buy him it will be a punt to see if we can bulk him up without him losing pace?

You were claiming PL/Champ clubs were in for him and we had no hope of signing him yesterday

If there wasn’t an issue with him he wouldn’t be a L1 transfer potential

Well fuck it then. Let's just not sign anyone.

Or let's do what I actually said - which was to reference what I said yesterday i.e. he's a punt but one I would take if we can get him at the right price.

The only reason I'm taking Iles semi-seriously is because what at first glance looked like posturing, feigning a "take it or leave it" move in the Armstrong negotiations is offset by Innes claiming he is desperate for Armstrong to stay - as I still suspect that Armstrong is the number one target, but if that has hit a wall, this kid is a possibility. We'll see.

Looks like we are going to lose Wesley Frimpong from the b team Brother of Jermaine who is set to sign for Liverpool for 35m

Offered a contract but turned it down

Be a decent move that. Lovely apparently over there

Shame really as if he turns out to be half as good as Jeremie he'll be great.

If he was any good he wouldn’t be playing b team football at 20. Austrian side in talks. Some sources mention where his brother is but it’s purely because his brother is there.

has he made a good name in the b team ? Don’t recall him being on the bench for the first team

Probably.

The only caveat for me, is that we haven't got a good recent record of bringing youngsters through.

Sheffield Wednesday , Derby and Portsmouth are all after Dembele.

That's not too bad - it implies that PL interest has died down.

Maybe just a diversion tactic then.

Maybe, maybe not - but my first thought was that's exactly what it is to encourage Kilmarnock to sell. Then I realised there's little advantage in feigning disinterest or pretending we have other fish to fry  - like Steve Guppy for example - when Killie's manager is desperate to keep Armstrong..

Makes it even weirder we have gone to press

maybe we are going with what we've got, but giving the likes of Iles the idea we are trying to sign the likes of Dembele, Maghoma, Armstrong etc

so we can say "at least we tried"

Think illes has been served a kipper

It's just really weird isn't it. Usually we're silent about transfers and Iles is pretty good about not speculating, and then all of sudden he's saying we're getting 2 great (for this level) signings...

Not sure what to make of it all tbh. If we do get these signings then we really are going for it next season, but it just seems unlike how we've done business so far under FV. I'm just confused, which some might say isn't unusual

I've been wondering all the same things. Iles doesn't usually operate this and neither does the club. In whose interests does it serve? Far more than meets the eye. I'd be pleasantly surprised if we sign either of these players. Let's see...
