Cheap? Still shopping in whoops aisle?

Yes you have but also dead wages if the player is in the treatment room

Risk factor I guess but for a club that’s suffered so badly in the last couple of years with injuries you think more caution would be taken

I read that on a Wycombe site. Wished him, & us, well. Said he was an absolute class act but prone to injury.

.... & yes, currently injured.

He's played 30 out of 46 league games for two seasons in a row.

Santos 37 and 32.

He's a very good player, as is Santos. We're well stocked in that position now (Forino more adaptable than Santos across the back 3).

We'd love a 46 game a season player but not many exist

If we miss out on all our main targets then a team who came third only after blowing the run in would have to get on with it woth only the 4 new entrants to date plus Johnston back.

We lost a competent, if injury prone, Jon Dadi & let Cameron go.

So, on paper, we should still be up there. ... & there must be a dozen good loans we'd be interested in.

I'm not going to bite 😀

We have certainly got quantity of centre back numbers to sell Santos. The question is, have we got the quality. If all are fit, then maybe, but there are questions over fitness for both Firmino and Johnston.

While we don’t want to lose him for peanuts in January and bugger all in June, I don’t think we can risk a sale, unless the money is sufficiently high to allow similar spend on proven fit and quality replacements.

Last sentence is bang on.

We also seem to break new players regularly, so perhaps to be expected.

See how he goes on.

Love to know how many promoted teams have needed a Santos type defender v two traditional rugged 3rd division centre halves.

The latter can still play football just to be clear.

I think we know the answer, so course we can sell Santos  but always comes back to Evatt's fixation on this formation.

If he was half as good as he and the manager think he is he wouldn't still be out player IMO. Silly to build a strategy around a single point of failure in any case?

However, if we played a flat back 4 I'm pretty certain from Toal, Forrester, Johnstone, Forino and Iredale we have enough talent to play two regulation CBs to get us promoted - with the right players in front of them and correct tactics deployed.

That is the formation he’s obsessed with despite claiming 433 is his preferred. Which makes his stubbornness even more baffling

On his game, Rico has the attributes to play at a higher level but it's been a while since he's been properly "on his game" and sometimes I think that because he knows he has decent pace and long legs to get in a challenge, he gets over-confident with his positioning - which has never been the best - and he gets caught out. One other thing missing from his game is his goal threat - for a big lad he doesn't do much at corners and set pieces and has scored roughly a goal every 50 games for us - we could improve on that. I love what he's done for our club but we just haven't seen those commanding performances as often recently so I'm not totally against the idea of selling him whilst we can, especially as he's 29 now.

That said, if folk listened to FLW the transfer window would be like musical chairs.

Saw Jon Dadi at tesco middlebrook back end of last week, looked pretty agile.

Wasn't stalking him but did notice he slotted his trolley into the trolley park thing from a couple of yards out, no messing.

Surprised Wigan haven't announced he's signed yet.

Funnily enough, so did I! Only saw him sat in his car though, presumably waiting for his Mrs. Daughter spotted him as we'd parked right behind him.

Aw - what a really sweet, kind and considerate thing to say.

I'll be fine, but thanks for expressing your concern for my feelings.

Yes, he apparently changed to 5-2-3 against Boro which is only a slight tweak on the 3-4-1-2 he used mostly last season.

if he prefers 4-3-3 then surely that should be the alternative/back-up option? 🤷‍♂️
